RICHARDSON, Texas –
Hardin-Simmons
posted a 10-0-1 record in league play to win the regular season title and clinch the No. 1 seed in the 2018 American Southwest Conference Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament October 30, November 2 and 4.
The bracket for the eight-team single-elimination ASC Championship was announced Saturday following completion of conference play.
The 2018 ASC Championship is an eight-team field with the top four seeds - No. 1
Hardin-Simmons
, No. 2
UT Dallas
, No. 3
Mary Hardin-Baylor
and No. 4
Sul Ross State
- hosting quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, October 30. The quarterfinal winners advance to the semifinals hosted by Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas on Friday, November 2. The conference championship match is scheduled Sunday, November 4.
Defending ASC champion Hardin-Simmons (13-1-1, 10-0-1 ASC) makes its league-leading 21st consecutive tournament appearance. The Cowgirls enter the tournament ranked in the top 10 in the two national top 25 polls, and will host the No. 8 seed
McMurry
(6-11-1, 3-7-1 ASC), making its first appearance. HSU has won 18 championships, including 15 in a row.
UT Dallas (15-1-1, 9-1-1 ASC) enters its 17th consecutive ASC tournament and 19th overall. The Comets will host No. 7
East Texas Baptist
(8-7-1, 5-6 ASC)who are making its 12th championship appearance and fourth in a row.
Mary Hardin-Baylor (10-4-2, 9-2 ASC), the 2017 runner-up, makes its sixth consecutive tournament appearance and 10th overall. The Cru will host No. 6
Concordia Texas
(6-9, 5-6 ASC), who are making its ninth straight tournament appearance.
Sul Ross State (9-5, 8-3 ASC) are making its third straight appearance in the tournament in just the fourth year of the program. They are hosting No. 5
LeTourneau
(11-5-1, 7-4 ASC), making its sixth total appearance and fourth in a row.
The 2018 ASC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament is the 21st in league history. The winner of the ASC tournament is declared the conference champion and earns automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship.
Championship Notables:
No pets
are permitted at ASC championship events except for certified service animals that are properly trained, marked, and leashed.
Admission
for quarterfinal, semifinals and finals at Hardin-Simmons will be $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and free for any American Southwest Conference student with ID. Admission at UT Dallas will be $10 for adults and $5 for students and admission at Sul Ross State will be $5. Mary Hardin-Baylor will be free.
