SEGUIN, TX -- The Mississippi College women won the 2008 American Southwest Conference Cross Country Championships on the campus of Texas Lutheran University on Saturday (Nov. 1) to give them two straight conference titles and a record eight overall. MC senior Kellie Kirby recorded a 24:36.6 in the 6K and was the top individual for the women.

Freshman Jennifer Cooper earned a third place overall finish with a time of 24:51.1. Jessica McGee and Paige Duracher finished in the top 15 to help lead the Laddy Choctaws to the victory.

The Lady Choctaws will compete in the NCAA Regionals competition in Seguin, TX on November 15th.

MC's Butch Ard took coach of the year honors, while Kirby took the inagural ASC Female Cross Country Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.

Texas-Tyler finished second, seven points behind the Lady Choctaws. McMurry's Alaisha Guerra earned freshman of the year honors.
