DEFENSIVE

Javicz Jones, LB, Sr., Mary Hardin-Baylor

Mary Hardin-Baylor senior linebacker Javicz Jones (Katy, Texas / Morton Ranch HS) had 12 tackles – six solo, one for loss – an interception and a blocked field goal returned 77 yards for a touchdown to spearhead a 59-0 home win over Mississippi College that locked up the outright conference title and a perfect regular season. Howard Payne senior punter Josh Eppler (Sachse, Texas / Garland Christian Academy) broke an all-time NCAA Division III record with a 92-yard punt in a 47-6 home loss to Texas Lutheran. Eppler’s boom came late in the second quarter as the Yellow Jackets were facing fourth-down and long on their own 8-yard line. His punt landed in the TLU end zone.
