RICHARDSON, Texas –– The Louisiana College and Howard Payne University men’s basketball teams, and East Texas Baptist University and Schreiner University women’s basketball teams are the winners of American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship Awards for 2010-11 winter sports, the conference office announced on Friday (March 11).

Louisiana College and East Texas Baptist represented the East Division, while Howard Payne and Schreiner took honors in the East Division.

The award, in its fourth academic year, honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAACs) from the conference’s 15 member institutions vote on the recipients.

The HPU men became three-time winners of the sportsmanship award in basketball, while the LC men were honored for the second time. The ETBU and SU women are each first-time recipients.

The next SAAC Team Sportsmanship Awards will be named after the spring season.
