CLINTON, Miss. – McMurry University's men's track and field team exited the stage of the 2012 American Southwest Conference Championships exactly how it debuted in 1999…and every season since: hoisting the league's championship trophy.

The dominating win was the War Hawks' 14th-consecutive ASC crown. McMurry rolled up 330 points, nearly doubling up on second place UT-Tyler's 168 points. McM head coach Barbara Crousen's crew had champions in 12 of the meets 20 events.

In all, 13 War Hawks earned ASC All-Conference designation (reserved for event champions and/or athletes totaling 14 team points over the course of the meet. Additionally, sophomore Paul Davis earned the “Field Events Athlete of the Year” and Junior Saint Preux was the “Freshman of the Year.”

Crousen was named as the ASC men's “Coach of the Year” for the 14th time, as well.

After claiming three titles on Friday (Michael Dowd in the 10K, Gavan Bass in the long jump and Paul Davis in the shot put), the War Hawks went right back to work on Saturday, leading UT-Tyler by a slim two points (90-88).

In the 100 meters, the finish line was adorned in the Maroon and Black, with McM taking the Nos. 1-4 places. Kenneth Turner won the event with a time of 10.52 seconds. He was followed, in order, by Trevon Odom (10.59), Bass (10.69) and Josh Zu Bolton (10.76).

Odon and Turner went 1-2 in the 200 meters. Odom's 21.21 clocking was fractionally better than Turner's 21.22. Marcus Thompson, who was fifth in the 200, won the title in the 400 meters (50.05).

Saint Preux swept both the 110 hurdles (14.12) and the 400 meter hurdles (53.74). Teammate Willie Poindexter was second in the 400 hurdles.

The War Hawks also swept both relays. In the 4x100, the quartet of Zu Bolton, Odom, Bass and Turner combined for a blazing time of 40.91 seconds.

The 4x400 group – Poindexter, Michael Johnson, Saint Preux and Thompson – turned in an effort of 3:19.65.

In the triple jump, it was Everette Miller popping as season-best effort of 47' 9”. Teammates Chris Ogle (2nd), Dillon Wilkins (4th) and Bass (5th) helped McM dominate the event.

Grayson Morrow led a 1-2-3 sweep by the War Hawks in the pole vault. Marcus Nabors and Zach Hardin finished second and third, respectively.

Davis was second in the discus and third in the hammer. Heath Koop was fourth in the javelin.
