All-Time SAAC Team Sportsmanship Award Recipients
RICHARDSON, Texas - Seven American Southwest Conference member institutions were recognized by the conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as recipients of SAAC Team Sportsmanship awards for the fall 2021 sport seasons.
The SAAC Team Sportsmanship award honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The fall 2021 awards are presented in men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball with each of the 11 member SAACs voting within the sports it sponsors.
Belhaven led all schools with two teams honored.
Concordia Texas, LeTourneau, Mary Hardin-Baylor, McMurry, Ozarks and
Sul Ross State each had one.
LeTourneau was recognized in men's cross country for the fourth time. The YellowJackets also earned the award in 2015, 2016 and 2019. McMurry claimed the women’s cross country award for the third time (2008, 2015, 2021).
Belhaven received the football award for the second time (2019, 2021) and Concordia Texas was a first-time recipient in men’s soccer. In women’s soccer, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Ozarks were the co-winners. The Cru earned the honors for the first time, while the Eagles won for the second time (2010, 2021).
Belhaven and Sul Ross State split the volleyball award. The Blazers earned honors for a fourth time (2016, 2017, 2018, 2021) and Sul Ross State for a third time (2015, 2019, 2021).
The ASC SAAC Team Sportsmanship award is presented for the 14th year during the 2021-22 sport seasons. The winter award recipients will be announced following completion of the men's and women's basketball championships.
