Results

MARSHALL, Texas – McMurry won the 2022 American Southwest Conference Women’s Cross Country Championship, posting back-to-back titles for the first time in school history and a third conference championship in program history, at Marshall City Arena on Saturday, October 29.

The War Hawks scored 34 points, placing four runners in the top eight and three in the top five. McMurry matched an ASC Championship record of largest winning margin 45 points set 20 years earlier (2002, Texas Lutheran, 22-67).

Mary Hardin-Baylor placed second with 79 points, followed by East Texas Baptist (89) and UT Dallas (90).

Hardin-Simmons junior Kylah Holland captured the individual medalist with a 6K time of 22:31.0 (6.02/mi), and was over a minute faster than the runner-up result. That time is the second fastest for the 6K race in the ASC Women’s Cross Country Championship, just 1.1 seconds short of the record set in 2019. Holland is the third runner in Hardin-Simmons history to win the ASC individual title. She was also named ASC Newcomer of the Year.

Behind Holland was McMurry duo Janeth Chacon (2nd, 23:33.1) and Jazmin Chacon (3rd, 23:33.7) who each claimed their third All-Conference citations. Teammate Chloe Mclellan placed 5th (24:13.1) and was named ASC Freshman of the Year and All-Conference.

Hardin-Simmons Brittany Acosta (4th, 23:47.2) earned her fourth All-Conference distinction, as did Mary Hardin-Baylor senior Holly Dasher (13th, 24:52.3) who was named Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.

UT Dallas Madylin Herrera (6th, 24:16.1), and LeTourneau Briella Rose (7th, 24:26.8) completed the top seven individual scorers and All-Conference First-Team.

War Hawks head coach Rexi Parcells and assistant Corey Koch were named the 2022 Coaching Staff of the Year.
