D3football.com Top 25, 2022 preseason
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor was picked No. 1 in the Top 25 for the 2022 preseason rankings and received 23 out of 25 first place votes. The Cru won the 2021 Division III National Championship after going unbeaten with a 15-0 (9-0 ASC) record that included the American Southwest Conference title.
 
Hardin-Simmons University was the other ASC member to earn a spot on the list, as it cracked the top 10 spots with a selection of sixth. The Cowboys logged a 9-1 overall record and finished the season on a six-game winning streak thanks that was against all conference foes to cap an 8-1 mark.

The D3football.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. Points are awarded on a 25-24-23-22-etc. basis.
The 2022 season for the American Southwest Conference teams begin on September 3.
