AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE GOLFERS OF THE WEEK

CO-MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Parker McCurdy, Gr., UT Dallas
UT Dallas graduate student Parker McCurdy (Seguin, Texas) led the No. 10 Comets to a tie for eighth place at the prestigious Golfweek October Classic at Raven Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Florida. McCurdy placed sixth with a (-2) 69-71-71=211. He garnered 12 birdies and an eagle.
 
CO-MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Jack Sladek, Sr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist senior Jack Sladek (Fort Worth, Texas) won the American Southwest Conference Fall Preview by a stroke with a 71-72=143 (-1). The preview featured seven ASC men’s golf teams at Nutcracker in Granbury, Texas, which will be the host site of the 2023 ASC Men’s Golf Championship. Sladek helped the Tigers win first as a team by six strokes over Mary Hardin-Baylor. ETBU shot 297-295=592.
 
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Mia Gaboriau, So., UT Dallas
UT Dallas sophomore Mia Gaboriau (Coppell, Texas) led the No.15 Comets to an 11th place finish at the prestigious Golfweek October Classic at Baytowne Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Florida. Gaboriau shot a 79-79-73=222 (+6) to tie for 10th and tied for the second best 54-holes in program history. She collected nine birdies to finish second on the team and was part of the Comets posting their third-best 54 hole tally in school history. This is her third ASC Golfer of the Week honor.
 
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
MEN’S GOLF
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore Luke Lohman (Humble, Texas) claimed second place individually and was just one stroke behind Sladek for medalist at the ASC Fall Preview. Lohman carded a 74-70=144 to finish even and had the lowest second round in the tournament.
 
LeTourneau junior Easton Lampi (Leander, Texas) came in fourth at the ASC Fall Preview, as he shot (+4) with a 74 on both rounds to card a 148. It was his third top 10 finish this year and led the YellowJackets to third.
 
Howard Payne graduate student Brady Nelson (Rockdale, Texas) led the Yellow Jackets at the ASC Fall Preview finishing seventh shooting a 151 with a 75, 76.
 
Hardin-Simmons junior Luke Jun (Dallas, Texas) led the Cowboys to a fourth-place finish at the ASC Fall Preview. His tournament result was a 73-79=152 to tie for 10th.
 
WOMEN’S GOLF
Mary Hardin-Baylor junior Avery Hill (Keller, Texas) led the Cru at the Golfweek October Classic with a 77-73-75=225 (+9) and finished tied 15th. She posted three birdies in the final round and led the team with eight in the tournament. She helped UMHB finish 13th out of 24 teams that represent the nation’s top 24 programs.
 
UP NEXT
Both golf programs from Concordia Texas, McMurry, Howard Payne, and host Hardin-Simmons will be teeing off at the Abilene Intercollegiate at Diamondback National on October 23-24. East Texas Baptist will battle in the DBU Classic at Golf Club of Dallas those same dates.
