OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Gaylon Glynn, QB, Sr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons senior quarterback
Gaylon Glynn (Waco, Texas) went 17-of-23 for 297 yards and two scores and played in just a little over a half in the Cowboys win at East Texas Baptist. Glynn had touchdown passes connect for 84 and 52 yards to help the Cowboys build an early lead and earn the ASC Football Championship outright for the first time since 2004. Glynn has been named Offensive Player of the Week twice this fall.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kane Strohman, DL, Jr., McMurry
McMurry junior defensive lineman
Kane Strohman (Katy, Texas) led the War Hawks defense with seven tackles with four resulting in a sack. He totaled over 18 yards lost and forced a fumble to help McMurry finish with a winning record for the first time since 2012.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Damion Gomes, PR, So., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons sophomore punt return specialist
Dameion Gomes (Mansfield, Texas) carried a 60-yard punt return for the Cowboys in Saturday’s win over East Texas Baptist. Gomes leads the nation in punt returns and had a huge carry help Hardin-Simmons to good field position in its conference title-winning game. Gomes won Special Teams Player of the Week a second time this fall.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
Offensive
McMurry freshman quarterback
Jess Hoel (Abernathy, Texas) led the offense with five touchdowns, including three throwing and two rushing to cap off a four-game winning streak and give McMurry its first winning season in over a decade. Hoel had one of his touchdown passes completed for 75 yards.
Mary Hardin-Baylor freshman wide receiver
AJ Williams (Spring, Texas) tallied three receptions for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns last week against Howard Payne. He had a long of 33 yards in the contest.
Howard Payne senior quarterback
Landon McKinney (Liberty City, Texas) threw for 315 yards and one touchdown this past week in a 35-10 loss versus Mary Hardin-Baylor. McKinney finished seven yards shy of breaking the HPU career passing yards record totaling 10,240 yards.
Austin freshman quarterback
Jaylon Talton (Arlington, Texas) had a career day on the ground and topped 200 passing yards for just the second time in his young career, throwing for 231 yards and rushing for another 82 in Austin College's final game of the season.
Defensive
Hardin-Simmons junior free safety
Brock Bujnoch (Hutto, Texas) had eight tackles, seven solo tackles, and an interception in the end zone to end an ETBU threat.
Mary Hardin-Baylor freshman defensive lineman
Dillan Botts (Houston, Texas) totaled five tackles last week with three solo takedowns. He added 0.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks in the match. Botts also had one fumble recovery and one interception for 24 yards returned.
Howard Payne graduate safety KJ Kelley (Abilene, Texas) totaled nine tackles in a 35-10 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor this past week with two solo and seven assisted tackles. Kelley also recorded one tackle for loss.
