2023 ASC Women's Basketball Bracket Announced

RICHARDSON, Texas – The six-team bracket for the 2023 American Southwest Conference Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament was announced today (Feb. 18). Play begins with a pair of quarterfinal games on Tuesday followed by the semifinals and final rounds on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 24-25).
 
No. 1 seed Hardin-Simmons (23-2, 18-0 ASC), who earned a first-round bye, will host the semifinal and final rounds of the tournament. HSU is in the midst of a 20-game winning streak and posted its second perfect conference season record. The Cowgirls won the 2022 ASC championship defeating UT Dallas, 64-54, to claim a seventh ASC title. HSU is playing in its 24th ASC tournament.
 
No. 2 seed East Texas Baptist (19-6, 13-5 ASC) earned the other first-round bye. The Tigers advanced to the semifinals a year ago, falling to Hardin-Simmons. ETBU is making its 14th ASC tournament appearance and seventh in the last eight seasons. They picked up their first ASC title in 2018.
 
No. 3 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor (18-7, 13-5 ASC) hosts Concordia Texas in the quarterfinal round Tuesday. This will be the 19th ASC tournament appearance for UMHB, which ties for the second-most by an ASC program. The Cru has two ASC championships -- 2020 and 2021 – and have earned a spot in 11 straight ASC tournaments.
 
No. 4 seed UT Dallas (16-9, 12-6 ASC) hosts Sul Ross State in the quarterfinal round Tuesday and start postseason on a three-game win streak. UTD advanced to the 2022 championship game, dropping a 64-54 decision to Hardin-Simmons. The Comets hold the longest active stretch of ASC Championship Tournament appearances with 17 and have four league titles.
 
No. 5 seed Sul Ross State (15-10, 11-7 ASC) will head to UT Dallas for a first-round matchup on Tuesday. SRSU qualified for its third straight conference tournament appearance and its fourth overall.  
 
No. 6 seed Concordia Texas (10-14, 7-11 ASC) opens conference tournament play at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday. CTX qualified for its 11th ASC tournament, and second consecutive appearance. The Tornados won the ASC championship in 2012.
 
The winner of the ASC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament is the 2023 conference champion and earns automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship.
