Tigers, Cru tabbed Regional Site Hosts for NCAA Division III Softball Championship

RICHARDSON, Texas – East Texas Baptist and Mary Hardin-Baylor each qualified for the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament and were announced a host site for the opening regional brackets. The regionals open May 18-20.
 
East Texas Baptist (38-5) opens with SUNY Geneseo (25-16-1). Texas Lutheran (38-6) and Belhaven (29-11) will also be in the bracket. The Tigers captured their 11th American Southwest Conference title after going 3-0 in the tournament. ETBU walked off Mary Hardin-Baylor, 3-2, in eight innings in the championship game. This is the fourth straight regional for the Tigers to host and is their 16th overall national appearance.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor (32-12) gives the conference two teams in the national tournament and two that are hosting. The Cru face St. Thomas (32-8) in the first matchup, while Berry (36-4) and Rosemont (21-17) fill-out the other end of the bracket. UMHB won the ASC regular season title and were runners-up in the conference tournament. This is its second national tournament appearance with the other in 2008.
 
All four-team bracket regionals are double-elimination. The winners of the bracket advance to the super regionals at designated sites on May 26-27. The finals will be June 1-7 at East Texas Baptist in Marshall, Texas.
