BELTON, Texas – Mary Hardin-Baylor made a run scored in the third and fourth innings be enough, as Grason Long spun a three-hit shutout over seven innings to propel the top seed and host of the Belton Regional to a 2-0 victory over St. Thomas on Thursday (May 18).
 
An error allowed Lexi Harris to score in the third inning, and a Lindsey Polleschultz RBI single in the fourth proved to be all the Cru (33-12) needed to go up 1-0 in the regional. They advance to play Berry at 12 p.m. CT on Friday (May 19). Full Recap

MARSHALL, Texas – East Texas Baptist was another American Southwest Conference softball program hosting its own regional and twirled a shutout of its own, taking down SUNY Geneseo 6-0 on Thursday. Hannah Kelley was the pitcher of record, going six innings and carrying four perfect innings in the gem. She allowed just one hit and had five strikeouts.
 
The Tigers (39-5) got on the board early with all six runs coming in the first two innings. Tauryn Cummings, who hit the game-winning double in the ASC Championship to direct ETBU to its 11th title, had two RBI and a two-hit game with a double. ASC Softball Player of the Year Tristen Maddox lofted a home run and scored twice. ETBU plays Belhaven at 12 p.m. CT on Friday (May 19). Full Recap
