MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Davis Grindle, Jr., UT Dallas
UT Dallas junior 
Davis Grindle (Round Rock, Texas) shot a 66-68=134 (-6) to finish third at the UMHB Fall Invitational at Sammons Park this week. Grindle’s score was the top 36-hole tally in Comets history and his result led all ASC participants. No. 14 UTD won with a 269-274=543 and topped No. 16 Trinity by four strokes. The team broke the old program 36-hole record by 18 strokes, which was done last year at the same course.
 
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Sarah Kmiecik, Sr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Mary Hardin-Baylor senior 
Sarah Kmiecik (Houston, Texas) led the Cru, carding a 69-74=143 (-1) to finish tied for fourth individually at the Montgomery Women’s Intercollegiate. Kmiecik ranked second on the team with 10 birdies and was top three in par-4 scoring € and par-5 scoring (-3). She helped the Cru finish fourth as a team with a 300-304=581 (+5).
 
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES 
MEN’S GOLF
Concordia Texas senior Jorge Arnaud (San Pedro Garza, Nuevo Leon) carded a 68-75=143 (-1) to tie fourth and lead the Tornados at the Midwest Region Classic in Kansasville, Wisconsin. He helped the Tornados post a 292-303=595 score and finish sixth out of 40 teams.
 
LeTourneau junior Easton Lampi (Leander, Texas) and sophomore Kaiden Schneider (Bullard, Texas) each had a 219 to tie fifth at the Rhodes Invitational. Schneider led the event with 15 birdies and scored a 71, 74, 74. Lampi added 10 birdies and carded a 76, 70, and 73.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore Luke Lohman (Humble, Texas) led the Crusaders at its home invitational with a 70-69=139 (-1). Lohman tied for seventh individually and helped the Cru grab third place with a 287-276=563.
 
East Texas Baptist junior Kip Childress (Suphur Springs, Texas) was a top finisher for the Tigers tying 14th and jumping 11 spots by shooting a 68 in round two and finishing +1 overall with a 141 at the UMHB Fall Invitational.
 
McMurry freshman Kendrick Hoster (Brock, Texas) led the War Hawks with a 75-69=144 to increase his spot in the rankings by 14 places and tied 23rd.
 
WOMEN’S GOLF
Concordia Texas sophomore 
Sophia Padilla (Spring Branch, Texas) shot even (72) on the second round of the Midwest Region Classic to finish tied at 13th with a 157. She jumped 55 places in the field that had 194 participants. She helped CTX take eighth as a team with a 331-322=653 in a field of 33 teams.
 
UC Santa Cruz senior 
Alyssa Yee (Davis, Calif.) led the Banana Slugs at the Redlands Fall Invite with a score of 157 (+13) for 19th.
 
LeTourneau sophomore 
Isabella Ferreira (Plano, Texas) tied for first at Jacksonville College Classic and became the first YellowJacket to place first in a tournament since Candice Nishimura in 2011. Ferreira carded a 78-79=157 and helped LETU take second as a team.
 
UP NEXT
The women’s golf teams will be in action as the calendar turns to October starting with UT Dallas at the NCAA Division III Preview hosted at Kenne Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky. On Oct. 2, Hardin-Simmons, East Texas Baptist, McMurry, UC Santa Cruz, and host Mary Hardin-Baylor will compete in the Legends Cup at Kingsland, Texas, on The Legends Golf Course.
 
On the men’s side, LeTourneau will play at Royal Lakes Fall Invitational at Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
