PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jacqueline Berry, G, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons freshman guard Jacqueline Berry (Texhoma, Okla.) averaged 17.5 points a game to lead her team in two Cowgirl wins last weekend over the Univ. of St. Thomas and Southwestern. HSU beat UST 80-51 Friday and Southwestern 70-48 Saturday for an average margin of victory of 25.5 points. Berry scored 17 against UST and 18 points against Southwestern to lead the Cowgirls in both games. She added seven assists against UST to lead her team as well.  

 

OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES

East Texas Baptist graduate student guard Payton Hicks (Plano, Texas) averaged 15 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game and shot .435 in ETBU's West Coast trip facing Willamette (Ore.) and Whitman (Wash.). In the win over Willamette, she posted 18 points with 7 assists and two steals shooting .545 from the floor (6-of-11). She then had 12 points vs. Whitman with three steals shooting .333. Overall, she shot .818 from the FT line (9-of-11). Her seven assists were one short of her career high.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore forward Adyson James (Cibolo, Texas) led the Cru with 16 points against Southwestern, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. She also had two steals in the contest, making eight field goals in 28 minutes of action.


UT Dallas graduate student forward Anna Yellen (El Paso, Texas) led the Comets in scoring in all three games as they went 2-1 on the road last week. She averaged 16.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent (18-for-39) from the field and 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from outside. Yellen scored a career-high 19 points with five rebounds in Monday's 10-point loss at Oklahoma Baptist. She followed with 15 points and a career-best seven rebounds in a three-point win at Chapman and 16 points on four three-pointers in Saturday's five-point victory at Redlands.
 
LeTourneau sophomore guard/forward Sara Savage (North Richland Hills, Texas) had a stat-stuffing week as she averaged 13.0 points -- while shooting 71.4 percent from the field and from 3-point land -- 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game. Savage also committed just one turnover in 47 minutes played. She had a career-high 14 points with four assists, five rebounds, and two blocks in a tight loss to Centenary. Savage then had 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in a loss to Texas Lutheran.
