WSOC | Eight named to USC All-Region X Teams

DALLAS, Texas – Eight American Southwest Conference women’s soccer players were named to United Soccer Coaches All-Region X Teams.

Hardin-Simmons senior midfielder Gabby Aviles was named First Team All-Region X. Aviles ranks second with 11 goals for the Cowgirls with eight in conference play. She recorded 24 of 51 shots on frame while adding five assists.  Aviles was also named ASC Co-Midfielder and First Team All-ASC.

Mary Hardin-Baylor junior defender Malyn Martinson was named Second Team All-Region X. Martinson led the Mary Hardin-Baylor backline to rank first in the conference with .63 goals allowed per game overall.  She posted 87 minutes per game, contributing to three shutouts and holding opposing teams to under seven shots a game. Martinson was also named ASC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ASC.

Hardin-Simmons senior defender Kalea Willis also earned Second Team honors. Willis helped Hardin-Simmons post an 8-0 conference record as she averaged 88 minutes a game. She was part of a defense that recorded 12 overall shutouts and seven conference shutout wins. The Cowgirl defense only allowed just one goal against in conference play and 15 overall. Willis also added a goal and an assist on the season. She also earned ASC Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors and First Team All-ASC this season.

Allie Angell (UMHB), Kennedy Harris (UMHB), Kaylee Maddox (HSU), Natalie Mason (UMHB) and Lexi Templin (HSU) were all Third Team All-Region X selections.

Angel, a sophomore defender, started in all 19 games for the Cru with 1,599 minutes spent on the backline. She helped the Cru limit opponents to just 12 goals and 6.7 shots per game.  

Harris, a senior midfielder, started in all 19 games for UMHB while recording three goals with two game-winners. She shot 16 of 34 shots on target.

Maddox, a senior midfielder, led the conference with 10 assists. She has recorded 22 points on the season and six goals. Maddox was also named ASC Co-Midfielder of the Year and First Team All-ASC.

Mason, a senior forward, led the Cru in goals this season with nine total. She recorded two game-winners and shot 33 of 60 shots on target.

Templin, a sophomore forward, led the ASC in goals with 16, including a conference high seven game-winners. She also leads in points with 37 total and ties for third in assists with five. Templin recorded 73 shots this season with 31 on goal while adding five assists. She started in 20 games for the Cowgirls, contributing more than 1,200 minutes on the field. Templin was also named ASC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ASC.
