DALLAS, Texas – East Texas Baptist University headlined the coaches/sports information directors’ preseason poll as repeat favorites for the 2024 American Southwest Conference volleyball title, announced Tuesday.
The Tigers notched a 26-4 overall record with a 13-1 conference record to finish as Regular Season Co-Champions. After sweeping the ASC Championship match, they claimed their first ASC title since 2003. The Tigers earned a win over No.15 North Park in the first round of the NCAA DIII Championship Tournament before falling to No. 20 La Verne. ETBU tallied 47 points with seven first-place votes.
Mary Hardin-Baylor enters the preseason poll in second place. The Cru logged a 27-2 record with a 13-1 conference record in 2023. UMHB shared the Regular Season Co-Champion title with ETBU, earning the hosting rights for the ASC Volleyball Championship Tournament and finished runner-up. The Cru totaled 37 points with three first-place votes.
Hardin-Simmons comes in third place with 29 points. The Cowgirls posted a 13-15 overall with a 6-8 conference record. LeTourneau followed in fourth with 19 points after going 13-14 with a 7-7 league record. Howard Payne came in fifth with 18 points and were 12-14 with a 4-10 ASC record.
