AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Javarian Belcha, Gr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons graduate student Javarian Belcha (Dallas, Texas) had a career day at the War Hawk Classic on Saturday in the sprints. He ran a 10.62 in the 100m dash and a 21.65 in the 200m race. He placed seventh and ninth out of 50 runners in each race. Belcha clocked the best times for the Cowboy team in both events at McMurry.
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Nick Hofer, Fr., UT Dallas
UT Dallas freshman Nick Hofer (Broomfield, Colo.) broke three school records while placing eighth in the decathlon at the Carl Kight Invitational & Multi on Thursday and Friday. He bested the decathlon record with 5,378 points for the best mark in the ASC this season. Hofer also broke the school record in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters (6 ft.-2 in.), and the pole vault at 3.55 meters (11 ft.-7.75 in.). In the decathlon field, Hofer had the best 1,500-meter time of 4:36.42.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Kylah Washington, So., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons sophomore Kylah Washington (Midland, Texas) ran the No. 13 time in Division III with a 12.01 in the 100m at the War Hawk Classic on Saturday. She has hit the time on multiple occasions this season, and placed fourth out of 32 runners at McMurry.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Haley Smith, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons freshman Haley Smith (New Deal, Texas) hit the best Cowgirl mark of the year in the long jump at the War Hawk Classic on Saturday. She jumped 17-9 1/2 ft. and placed second overall at the meet in a field including multiple Division I schools. Smith's long jump mark is currently inside the top-50 in Division III.
 
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
 
East Texas Baptist sophomore Cooper Mosier (Anna, Texas) had a strong weekend at the Carl Knight Invite at SFA with two top 10 finishes amongst NCAA D1, D2, D3, and NAIA programs. He was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 158'6" on his fourth attempt. He was three inches from fifth place and six feet from third place. In the shot put, he was seventh with a throw of 45'7.25" on his first attempt. He was five feet out of the top five. He then was 16th in the discus.
 
Hardin-Simmons junior Kaden Landeros (Abilene, Texas) led the Cowboys and all ASC competitors in the long jump at the War Hawk Classic with a jump of 22-2 1/4 ft. Landeros placed sixth overall at the meet that included jumpers from multiple Division I schools and over 30 competitors. His jump at McMurry on Saturday is the best mark for the Cowboys in the long jump this season.
 
East Texas Baptist senior Andrae Gibson (McKinney, Texas) ran against NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA programs, finishing in the top 10 in two events. He was seventh in the 400-meter dash with the second-fastest D3 time behind a St. Thomas participant and just 0.60 off third place. He had the fastest D3 time in the 200-meter dash in 10th place at 21.98, just 0.30 off third place.
 
UT Dallas graduate student Ethan Turner (Fort Worth, Texas) finished fourth in the 10,000 meters at the Carl Kight Invitational & Multi Friday night with a school-record time of 32:08.05. He beat the old record by 4.07 seconds and established the best mark in the ASC this season.
 
East Texas Baptist sophomore Lillian Stowe (Crowley, Texas) finished in the top 10 of the high jump, clearing 4'11" on her second attempt.
 
East Texas Baptist sophomore Mary Kate Mark (Longview, Texas) finished in fifth place in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 43:31.84. She was three minutes off of the top three.
 
UT Dallas senior Sage Herrera (Fort Worth, Texas) finished 16th out of 74 runners at the Carl Kight Invitational & Multi in the 800 meters. She recorded the best time of the season in the ASC in 2:20.90.
