FB | Cowboys and Cru Rank Top 10 in AFCA Preseason Poll

DALLAS, Texas – Hardin-Simmons and Mary Hardin-Baylor ranked top ten in the 2025 American Football Coaches Association D3 Coaches Preseason Poll.

Hardin-Simmons ranked 6th in the poll with 975 points after going 10-1 during their 2024 campaign. The Cowboys went undefeated in the regular season with a 10-0 record as they also earned the American Southwest Conference Title. Hardin-Simmons earned a first-round bye in the NCAA playoffs before falling in the second round.

Mary Hardin-Baylor open the 2025 season ranked 8th with 861 points. The Cru closed their 2024 season with an 8-4 record in the NCAA Quarterfinals. UMHB earned a win over Trinity in round one before claiming a second-round win against Hardin-Simmons. The Cru took a third-round victory over Linfield before falling to Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinal.

The 2025 season kicks off on Saturday, September 6th as the Cowboys take on Chapman in Orange, California while the Cru host Bethel (Tenn.) in Belton.
