OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Anita Hancock, MB, Jr., East Texas Baptist

East Texas Baptist middle blocker Anita Hancock (Celina, Texas) totaled 33 kills with a .436 hitting percentage across three mathces. She had six kills on three errors against Whitworth with eight points. Hancock had a pivital block in first set extending Tigers lead to 9-4. She had 12 kills with five errors for a .348 attack percentage with four blocks and 15 points against UNW. Hancocks’ best game was against no. 12 Trinity. She had 14 kills on one error for a .684 attack percentage with 8 blocks nearly having a double double and winning the Tigers their first ever win against Trinity. 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Callie Humphrey, DS, Sr., East Texas Baptist 

East Texas Baptist senior defensive specialist Callie Humphrey (Haslet, Texas) totaled 63 digs for a 5.73 dig per set average. She had 23 Digs against Whitworth and two service aces. Her defensive help allowed the Tigers to avoid a 5th set. Humphrey recorded 9 digs and three service aces against UNW, who recived votes, allowing the Tigers to sweep. She had her best match against No. 12 Trinity Texas with 31 digs, two assists and one kill, providing the TIgers a win in four and the first ever win against Trinity for the Tigers.

OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES

Offensive 

Hardin-Simmons graduate student right side hitter Abbi Allen (Coleman, Texas) hit 34 kills across four matches last weekend for the Cowgirl offense playing at the Mary Hardin-Baylor tournament. She had 12 kills against LeTourneau and 12 kills against Alverno. Allen finished the 4-0 weekend for HSU with 2.43 kills a set on average and hitting .282 on 85 total attacks.

Mary Hardin-Baylor middle hitter Natalie Hughes (Corpus Christi, Texas) hit .357 last week, totaling 25 kills on 56 attacks. She hit only five attack errors with 25 kills on the week. Hughes totaled 30.5 points on the week and earned tournament MVP.

Defensive

Hardin-Simmons graduate student right side hitter Abbi Allen (Coleman, Texas) had the most blocks for the Cowgirl team across four wins last weekend. She finished with four blocks against Schreiner, six blocks against LeTourneau, five blocks playing Methodist, and four blocks in the last win over Alverno. Allen ended four matches with five solo blocks and 14 block assists and averaged 1.36 blocks a set.

Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore Baylee Mobley (Godley, Texas) totaled 49 digs in four matches last week, putting up double-digit performances against Schreiner and LeTourneau. She added two blocks defensively and put up 31 kills and 12 service aces.
