PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jacqueline Berry, G, So., Hardin-Simmons
Jacqueline Berry of Hardin-Simmons earns her fourth Player of the Week honor after being named the American Southwest Conference Week 11 Player of the Week for games played January 26–February 1. In two HSU wins, Berry averaged 16.0 points per game. The Cowgirls defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor 69–56 on January 29, with Berry leading Hardin-Simmons with 20 points, playing all 40 minutes of competition. She also recorded six rebounds and three steals.
HSU followed with a 60–52 win over East Texas Baptist, behind Berry’s 12 points and five rebounds. The Cowgirls are currently 2–0 in ASC play and will face Howard Payne Wednesday, February 4 at 5:30 P.M.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
Freshman Caitlyn Parsons recorded a double-double in a one-point Howard Payne win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, January 31. Parsons led the team with 14 points and 15 rebounds, shooting 6-10 from the field and adding four assists. HPU is currently 1–0 in ASC play.
Amillion Fowler of Mary Hardin-Baylor averaged 15.5 points per game, shooting 44% from the field over two games for the Cru. In two close contests, Fowler scored 14 and 17 points, leading the team in scoring in both games. UMHB will face East Texas Baptist on Saturday, February 7 at 1:00 P.M.
Sophomore Marley Keith of East Texas Baptist shot 56% from the field while scoring 16 points in ETBU’s matchup against Hardin-Simmons. Keith played 36 minutes and knocked down four three-pointers for the Tigers.
