East Texas Baptist and Mary Hardin-Baylor Advance to 2026 Men's Tennis Championship

Dallas, Texas – East Texas Baptist and Mary Hardin-Baylor  have advanced to the 2026 American Southwest Conference Men's Tennis Final and will play in the championship game Saturday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m in Belton, Texas. Due to inclement weather, the semifinal rounds were moved to the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. The championship game will be at Mary Hardin-Baylor's Yvonne Li Tennis Center. 

No. 2 East Texas Baptist 4, No. 3 Hardin-Simmons 2
East Texas Baptist secured a spot in the ASC Men’s Tennis Championship match with a 4-2 semifinal victory over Hardin-Simmons on Friday at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. The Tigers claimed the doubles point behind wins from Erick Van Zyl and Mark Armbruster at No. 2 doubles and Jacob Daniell and Jaco Snyman at No. 3. Hardin-Simmons answered in singles with victories from Maddux Foster at No. 2 and Payne Smith at No. 1 to take a brief 2-1 lead. ETBU responded with singles wins by Mark Armbruster, Baptiste Berthier, and Erick Van Zyl to close out the match and advance to Saturday’s championship final in Belton.

Mary Hardin-Baylor secured its spot in the ASC Men’s Tennis Championship match with a 4-0 semifinal victory over Howard Payne on Friday in Dallas. The Cru claimed the doubles point behind wins from Kell Castleberry and Vince Rivas at No. 2 doubles and Alec Rule and Edgar Mayorga Calva Jr. at No. 3. UMHB carried that momentum into singles play, with Marcus Diaz Torres earning a win at No. 5 singles, followed by victories from Edgar Mayorga Calva Jr. and Kell Castleberry to clinch the semifinal sweep and advance to Saturday’s championship final in Belton.
