Latimer Headlines 2026 ASC Men’s Golf Awards

New Braunfels, Texas –  Lucas Latimer was named the 2026 American Southwest Conference Men’s Golfer of the Year, headlining the awards announced Monday following the conference championship. Voting was conducted by ASC head men’s golf coaches and sports information directors from across the conference.

Latimer, a freshman from Rockwall, earned Golfer of the Year honors in his first season with Mary Hardin-Baylor. He is currently ranked fourth in the region and 25th nationally. Latimer picked up ASC Golfer of the Week honors after winning the GreyStone Classic in Dickson, Tennessee. He also helped lead the Cru to the ASC Men’s Golf Championship, securing the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament May 12-15. Latimer finished tied for fourth at the ASC Championship in White Bluff.

Cade Barone earned Newcomer of the Year honors in his first season with the Cru. Barone is ranked fifth in the region and 26th nationally. He claimed medalist honors at the ASC Championship, finishing first overall after carding a 214 (-2).

Mary Hardin-Baylor’s Colton O’Dell was named Freshman of the Year after a strong debut season. His top finish came at the GreyStone Classic, where he placed third. At the ASC Championship, O’Dell finished tied for second to earn All-Tournament honors.

Blaine Onick was voted ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year for the second time in his career. The award is voted on by student-athletes competing in the conference championship. “Blaine consistently demonstrates respect, integrity, and positivity both on and off the golf course” said head coach Morgan Lucas. “He sets a high standard for how teammates and competitors should conduct themselves, offering encouragement, support, and a gracious attitude in every situation.” This year’s championship marked the final conference tournament for Onick, one of four graduating seniors for Howard Payne.

For the second straight year, Mary Hardin-Baylor’s Jordan Cox was named ASC Men’s Golf Coach of the Year. Cox led the Cru to victories at the GreyStone Classic, the West Region Invitational, and the ASC Championship, where Mary Hardin-Baylor swept the top six individual spots. Five Cru players were named to this year’s All-Conference teams.
