David Plunk
Men's Soccer Coach
Coach David Plunk begins his second year at the controls of the men's soccer program at Mary Hardin-Baylor. Plunk is a Hardin-Simmons graduate where he played for the Cowboys from 1988-1991. He remained at HSU as an assistant in 1992. Plunk left Hardin-Simmons to pursue a graduate degree in Kinesiology and Bilingual Education at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Plunk coached high school soccer for two seasons prior to arriving at Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The son of missionaries to Argentina, Plunk's soccer roots began by playing on several youth club teams until graduation from high school in Buenos Aires. He is currently married and has two children. (top of page)
The Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team looks to have a promising season despite the loss of seven players from last year's squad. The Crusaders will rely on seniors Jared Speights and Matt Birkhead for leadership. Also returning are Adrian Puente, Quddus Nasseri, Patrick Ridley, Todd Moseley, Shane Friesenhahn, Chris Martin and Travis Goos.
Three players that return from a one-year hiatus from Mary Hardin-Baylor are expected to make major contributions. Oscar Bersoza, a transfer from Tyler Junior College, will play in the midfield. Mike Enriquez, a redshirt freshman from El Paso, Texas, will help bolster the offense, while David Pena, a Harlingen, Texas, product, will help solidify the defense.
Three more transfers will add depth to the program. Carlso Calito, a midfielder from Incarnate Word, Carlos Molinas, a midfielder from San Jacinto Junior College, and Matt Corley, a goalkeeper from West Texas A&M, will step in an make immediate contributions on the field.
The schedule will be competitive with Hardin-Simmons and Austin College being picked to win the West and East Divisions in the coaches preseason poll. Mary Hardin-Baylor is expected to finish second in the West Division and will receive strong competition from LeTourneau and University of Texas at Dallas. (top of page)

Trevor Rogers
Women's Soccer Coach
Coach Rogers' career includes three years at Paris High School in Paris, Texas, where he led the boy's team to school records in wins in two of three seasons. He then went on to Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, where he stayed for four years While at Whitehouse, he led the Wildcats to a 61-14-9 record while making the playoffs each season.
In 1996, he was named the Region II boys Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Coaches Association and he was also named the Southwest Region's Boys Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches' Association.
Rogers graduated from East Texas Baptist University in 1991. He received his Masters degree in Physical Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1997. This past June he married Stacey Stuart from Jacksonville, Texas. (top of page)
Season Outlook
This season marks the beginning of women's soccer at Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Crusaders will be hoping to surprise its opponents this season under the guidance of first-year coach Trevor Rogers.
Key players during this inaugural season include Shanon Baker from Whitehouse, Texas, Angie Vernon from Tennessee and Mendi Mellville from Azle, Texas. The toughest competition will be Hardin-Simmons and Dallas Baptist. (top of page)
