GREEN BAY, WI – Thursday night’s NFL preseason game between the Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans at Lambeau Field featured the 2007 American Southwest Conference players of the year. Former Mississippi College wide receiver Jake Allen caught two passes for 33 yards and his first professional TD, while former University of Mary Hardin-Baylor linebacker Jerrell Freeman registered a special teams tackle.
Allen, the ASC Offensive Player of the Year, pulled in a 22-yard pass from Matt Flynn as time expired to pull the Packers within two points. The two-point conversion try failed and the Titans won 23-21.
Freeman, the ASC Defensive Player of the Year and ASC Male Athlete of the Year, teamed with Paul Williams during punt coverage in the third quarter to take down Brett Swain for a one-yard loss.
Allen and Freeman continue to battle for spots on their respective final 53-man rosters. The final cuts come on Saturday.
