HITTER OF THE WEEKGarrett Parsons, C, Sr., Louisiana College
Senior catcher Garrett Parsons (Channelview, Texas/Channelview HS) was an offensive force in the opening week recording nine total hits, five of which went for extra bases, and drove in 10 runs while scoring five more for the Wildcats. Parsons three home runs in the team's first four games were the most for an LC player in the Division III era. His efforts at the plate helped lead LC to a huge 7-6 upset win over No. 16 Trinity (Texas) on Saturday, as he went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and three RBI.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEKTyler Dauer, RHP, Sr., Texas Dallas
Senior pitcher Tyler Dauer (San Antonio, Texas/Reagan HS) pitched a gem Friday night as he collected his first career shutout in a 5-0 win over Whitman. Dauer struck out 12 batters while giving up just three hits as he improved to 1-1 on the season. Dauer’s 12 strikeouts is the fourth time in his career he has recorded double digit k’s in a single game and finished one strikeout shy of his career high.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES AT THE PLATE
 
Concordia Texas freshman outfielder Michael Evan (Cameron, Texas/Yoe HS) continued his offensive assault in his first week as a collegiate player. Evan hit .500 (4-for-8) with one double and five RBI over three games last week for the Tornados. He also scored four runs, slugged .625 and reached base at a .583 clip. Evan raised his batting average to .381 on the season.
 
East Texas Baptist sophomore second baseman Conner Combs (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll HS) set career highs in the series sweep of Centenary. In game three Combs hit two home runs for four RBI which are both career-highs. Overall he had five RBI in the series. His first home run against Centenary in the fourth inning put ETBU up 7-6 with a two-run shot and then in the bottom of the sixth Combs hit another two-run homer to put ETBU back in front, 9-7, as they went on to win, 10-7. In the 12 inning win in game one on Saturday, Combs drove in the tying RBI in the 10th inning making it 4-4.
 
Hardin-Simmons junior outfielder Brandon Walker (Lubbock, Texas/Frenship HS) led the Cowboys with eight hits, and drove in five runs as the Cowboys went 2-2 at the Dr. Pepper Invitational.
 
Howard Payne senior outfielder Dustin DeJohn (Houston, Texas/St. Pius HS) went 2-for-4 from the plate with a triple, two RBI and scoring twice in the season opening victory over Southwestern (Texas).
 
LeTourneau junior outfielder Sean Sellers (Arlington, Texas/Woodinville, Wash. HS) went 2-for-5 with a RBI to begin the season in the 9-5 loss to fellow 2014 NCAA regional foe, Trinity. Sellers went 1-for-4 with a RBI in the 7-3 loss to Texas Lutheran.
 
Ozarks senior outfielder Sam Shook (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch HS) recorded the game-winning hit with a single through the right side of the infield to push Ozarks past Schreiner (2-1) in the 10th inning.
 
Sul Ross State senior outfielder Shane Sawyer (Midland, Texas/Midland HS) hit safely in his first four at bats against Texas-Permian Basin, an NCAA Division II opponent, in the Lobos' only game of the week. Sawyer singled in the Lobos' first run in a three-run third inning and slammed a solo homer in the seventh to increase their lead to 4-1.
 
Texas Dallas junior shortstop Jimmy Norris (Kennedale, Texas/Kennedale HS) hit .462 from the plate as the Comets went 2-1 at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark last weekend. Norris opened the weekend with a 3-for-5 performance with a double and two stolen bases in a 5-0 win over Whitman. He then went 2-for-4 Saturday night with a triple and four RBI in a 9-8 win over Carleton (MN). Norris closed the weekend with a 1-for-4 performance with a steal in a 9-2 loss to Hendrix. Norris is now hitting .321 on the season with a league-best eight steals and is riding a four-game hitting streak.
 
Texas-Tyler senior catcher Buddy McCoy (Haughton La./Haughton HS) helped lead the Patriots to three-straight wins, including two against Texas Lutheran and a Sunday-win over No. 16 Trinity (Texas). McCoy leads the ASC in RBI with 15, and finished the week with two homers, seven RBI, 11 total bases and a .400 batting average.
 
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES ON THE MOUND
 
Concordia Texas senior pitcher Cameron Cox (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point HS) went 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and struck out six in his only start last week. Cox allowed one earned run in the Tornados' win over Southwestern (Texas) this past Saturday. He scattered four hits (all singles) in six innings on the mound.
 
East Texas Baptist senior pitcher Kirby Moore (Minden, La./Minden HS) pitched the final six innings in the 12 inning win over Centenary College in game one of the doubleheader last Saturday. Moore gave up just one run and retired the side twice in six innings.
 
Hardin-Simmons sophomore pitcher Jeremy Hallmark (Midland, Texas/Midland HS) worked seven and two-third innings and allowed one run on two hits in a 3-1 win over Hendrix.
 
LeTourneau senior pitcher Justin Jenkins (Hallsville, Texas/Hallsville HS) was the tough-luck loser in the loss to Texas Lutheran. The right hander surrendered just six hits - all singles and all five of his runs were unearned in the loss. He struck out two and did not walk a batter.
 
Louisiana College freshman pitcher Tyler Lamers (Luling, La./Hahnville HS) was lights out during his first week of action for the Wildcats. In his debut against Texas College, Lamers faced the minimum in a perfect inning against the Steers and followed that with his first career start against Texas Lutheran, where he went the distance in a tremendous effort despite being tagged with the loss. Lamers tossed a complete game against the Bulldogs, giving up seven hits, striking out four, and giving up just one earned run in his first career collegiate start.
 
Ozarks senior pitcher Alex Rodriguez (San Antonio, Texas/Taft HS) received the win against Schreiner after tossing the final two innings in relief. Rodriguez allowed just one base runner.
 
Sul Ross State senior pitcher Ryan Vaughn (Austin, Texas/Crockett HS) started the Lobos' only game of the week against NCAA Division II opponent Texas-Permian Basin and allowed one hit in four innings. Vaughn gave up one run and left with a 3-1 lead. He faced the minimum number of batters through the first three innings.
 
Texas-Tyler sophomore pitcher Chad Hayes (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery HS) picked up his first two saves of the year, making three appearances and totaling 3.0 innings pitched. He helped close the door in back-to-back games against Texas Lutheran and Trinity (Texas). Hayes allowed just two hits, no runs, and walked just one batter.
