HITTER OF THE WEEKZach Compton, Jr., SS, East Texas Baptist
Junior shortstop Zach Compton (Pflugerville, Texas / Pflugerville HS) had a strong week at the plate for ETBU hitting .385 with six RBI, a home run, a triple, and a .769 slugging percentage. In game one, he hit a bases clearing triple that put ETBU up 18-7 in the eighth inning. In game two he earned an RBI with a bases loaded walk. In game three he had two RBI on a two-run home run that was ETBU's first two runs of the game to cut into UMHB's lead, 7-2. He went 3-of-5 on the day with two runs scored.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEKBoone Privette, Sr., RHP, LeTourneau
Senior pitcher Boone Privette (Fort Worth, Texas / Cedar Valley College) had another impressive outing in leading the YellowJackets to a 7-6 win in the series finale over No. 28 Concordia Texas. Privette limited the league's top hitting squad to just two hits in seven innings of work. He struck out five en route to the win.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES AT THE PLATE
 
Belhaven senior outfielder Dane Gecina (New Castle, Pa. / Delaware Tech CC) scored five runs, drove in three RBI and hit two doubles last week for the Blazers. In the contest against Mississippi College last Tuesday, he went 3-for-4 with three RBI with two steals. He finished the week with a .467 batting average, a slugging percentage of .600 and acquired an on-base percentage of .529.
 
Concordia Texas senior first baseman Connor Bertsch (Fayetteville, Texas / Fayetteville HS) showed why he's the active career walks leader in NCAA Division III this weekend by drawing six free passes. When he was on the record for an at-bat, he was 3-for-5 with a triple in game one and a home run on senior day. Both were Bertsch's first of that variety this season. His triple in the opener led to him scoring the only run of the game. He also tallied the final run of the series with a solo blast Saturday.
 
Hardin-Simmons junior second baseman / outfielder Zack De Luna (Pittsburg, Texas / Pittsburg HS) led the Cowboys at the plate going 8-for-12 and scored four runs. He now has 61 hits on the season and leads the Cowboys with a .424 average.
 
Howard Payne senior outfielder Walker Dailey (DeLeon, Texas / Brock HS) led the Jackets for the weekend at UT Tyler going 5-for-9 from the plate with three doubles, a home run and four RBI. Dailey had a 1.222 slugging percentage over the three games and had a.556 average. In game one of the series Dailey was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI. In game two he went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
 
LeTourneau junior second baseman Kyle Jacobs (Leander, Texas / Rouse HS) hit .364 to lead the YellowJackets to a 2-2 mark last week with wins over Concordia Texas and Texas College. Jacobs shared the team lead with four hits and two runs scored, plus he drew a team-high five walks in the four games. He was one of five YellowJackets with a stolen base.
 
Louisiana College sophomore outfielder Sully Martin (Paulina, La. / Lutcher HS) was the catalyst at the top of the Wildcats lineup in the series sweep over Ozarks. Martin has used his speed all season to rack up stolen bases but it was his bat that helped lead the Wildcat last weekend. He scored five runs in the series and was just a home run away from hitting for the cycle in game three.
 
Ozarks senior first baseman Grady Finley (Sheridan, Ark. / Sheridan HS) went 7-for-19 with a pair of doubles and three RBI during the week. He collected seven hits during the Louisiana College series.
 
Sul Ross State junior second baseman Johnny Campos (Odessa, Texas / Odessa HS) hit 6-for-15 over a three-game conference road sweep of UT Dallas over the weekend. Campos had three RBI, two doubles and scored five times.
 
UT Dallas senior shortstop Jimmy Norris (Kennedale, Texas / Kennedale HS) was 5-for-12 (.417) from the plate with four runs scored and two RBI in the Comets' three-game home series with Sul Ross State. Norris swiped two more bags during the series with the Lobos, giving him 85 over his career, extending his ASC record. Norris is 25-of-32 in stolen bases this season. He was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 13-10, extra-inning loss to the Lobos, before going 2-for-7 form the plate with three runs scored and both his steals in Saturday's doubleheader.
 
UT Tyler freshman outfielder Graham Welch (Plano, Texas / Plano East HS) is the national leader in triples after having two last week to take his season's total to nine triples. He has established the program's single-season record with the previous UT Tyler record at six, including his teammate Sam Lane last season. Welch went 8-for-18 last week with six singles to go along with his two triples and is now hitting .342 with 50 total hits through 36 games this season. Welch has 10 doubles, nine triples, 25 RBI and has scored 34 runs for the Patriots.
 
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES ON THE MOUND
 
Belhaven junior pitcher Shane Brown (Braxton, Miss. / Copiah-Lincoln CC) snapped a winless streak that spanned over his last five starts with a complete game shutout of McMurry on Friday in game one of the doubleheader. After giving up a hit and hit by pitch in the top of the seventh, his defense helped preserve the shutout by ending the game with a triple play. In the start with the War Hawks, Brown allowed four hits, two walks and struck out two batters. On the week, Brown pitched nine shutout innings, allowed six hits and opposed hitters to a .200 average with one pickoff.
 
Concordia Texas senior pitcher Josh Smith (Conroe, Texas / Temple JC) was solid in his final regular-season start at Tornado Field, striking out nine in seven and 2/3 innings. He gave up five hits but did not allow a run to cross and dealt no walks. Ty Bratton and Justin Traxler later finished the shutout.
 
East Texas Baptist senior pitcher Jimmy Russo (Kingwood, Texas / Kingwood Park HS) pitched in four innings and went 1-0 and with two saves. In the first game Russo pitched 1.1 innings and recorded the win. He came in with the game tied (7-7) in the top of eighth and got the last out with a runner on second base. ETBU then scored 11 runs in the bottom of the eighth for the 18-8 win. In game two, Russo recorded the save getting the final out in the 6-3 win. In game three he pitched 2.1 innings for the save in the 11-9 ETBU win. In the final two innings Russo allowed two hits and nobody advanced past second base. He is now 2-0 with seven saves in 18 appearances.
 
Howard Payne junior pitcher Kyle Ramon (San Antonio, Texas / East Central HS) improved to 4-2 on the year with a victory in game one of the series at UT Tyler. Ramon allowed two runs on six hits while striking out four in eight innings of work.
 
Louisiana College junior pitcher Charlie Waddingham (Brandon, Miss. / St. Joseph HS) picked up his second win of the season in game one of the three game sweep of Ozarks. He pitched 6.2 of the seven inning game and allowed four runs to score only one of which was earned.
 
Ozarks senior pitcher Keaton Ramsey (Sheridan, Ark. / Sheridan HS) threw a five-hit complete game to earn a win against Williams Baptist. Ramsey did not allow an earned run and did not issue a walk in the game.
 
UT Tyler senior pitcher Tyler Stallings (Splendora, Texas / Splendora HS) went 1-0 last week after making a midweek start against Centenary and then two relief appearances against Howard Payne in the final home games of the season. Stallings struck out three and limited the Gents to four hits in 6.0 innings, but did not receive a decision in the game the Patriots dropped 8-3. He would however earn a win on Saturday against HPU in relief after holding the Yellow Jackets to one hit in 1 and 1/3 innings and seeing the offense post runs to take a 9-7 win in the series finale. He finished the week with eight strikeouts in 9 and 2/3 innings of work and is now 5-1 on the season for the Patriots.
