RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons posted a perfect 11-0 record in league play to win the regular season title and clinch the No. 1 seed in the 2019 American Southwest Conference Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament November 5, 8 and 10.
The bracket for the eight-team single-elimination ASC Championship was announced Friday following completion of conference play.
The 2019 ASC Championship is an eight-team field with the top four seeds - No. 1 Hardin-Simmons, No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor, No. 3 UT Dallas and No. 4 McMurry - hosting quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, November 5. The quarterfinal winners advance to the semifinals hosted by Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas on Friday, November 8. The conference championship match is scheduled Sunday, November 10.
Defending ASC champion Hardin-Simmons (14-2-1, 11-0 ASC) makes its league-leading 22nd consecutive tournament appearance. The Cowgirls will host the No. 8 seed Concordia Texas (4-14, 4-7 ASC), making its 10th straight appearance.
Mary Hardin-Baylor (11-6-1, 9-2 ASC), the 2018 runner-up, makes its seventh consecutive tournament appearance and 11th overall. The Cru will host No. 7 Howard Payne (8-9-2, 4-6-1 ASC), who are making its fourth tournament appearance and first since 2014.
UT Dallas (15-2-2, 7-2-2 ASC) enters its 18th consecutive ASC tournament and 20th overall. The Comets will host No. 6 Belhaven (10-8-1, 5-6 ASC) who are making its first appearance in their first year eligible after becoming a full NCAA Division III member.
McMurry (11-3-6, 6-3-2 ASC) are making its second straight appearance in the tournament. They are hosting No. 5 LeTourneau (9-7-1, 5-5-1 ASC), making its seventh total appearance and fourth in a row.
Hardin-Simmons has won 19 of the 21 championships in ASC history, including the last 16. UT Dallas won one tournament in 2002.
The 2019 ASC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament is the 22nd in league history. The winner of the ASC tournament is declared the conference champion and earns automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship.
