2021 ASC Women's Cross Country Schedule
RICHARDSON, Texas –
McMurry was selected to win the 2021 American Southwest Conference Women’s Cross Country Championship in a vote of the league’s head coaches the conference office announced Wednesday, August 25.
The War Hawks received 89 points and two out of 10 first-place votes in the poll after placing third at the ASC Championships in February.
Second in the poll was 2020-21 runner-up
UT Dallas with 82 points, followed by defending champion
Mary Hardin-Baylor with 81 points and six first place votes.
Rounding out the poll were
LeTourneau (71);
Hardin-Simmons (61/1);
Concordia Texas (49);
East Texas Baptist (47);
Ozarks (33);
Belhaven (29/1); and
Sul Ross State (14).
Thirteen runners are among those to watch in the 2021 season. Nominated by the head coaches, the watch list includes eight who earned All-Conference honors in the spring, including individual medalist
Holly Dasher of UMHB and Freshman of the Year
Janeth Chacon of McMurry.
Regular season races will begin Wednesday, September 1. The ASC Cross Country Championship is scheduled for October 30, hosted by Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark.
