RICHARDSON, Texas - McMurry University announced November 1 that it has accepted an invitation to join the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and will begin affiliation in fall 2024 with the full intent to meet obligations of its current American Southwest Conference membership through June 30, 2024.

"McMurry University has informed the American Southwest Conference of its decision to affiliate with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference," said ASC Commissioner Amy Carlton. "While disappointed, we note the role McMurry played in the formation of the conference, and look to continuing competition and activities through spring 2024."
 
McMurry teams and individuals will remain eligible for ASC regular-season and tournament championships and student awards through the end of the 2023-24 seasons. When it departs the American Southwest Conference, McMurry will have been a member for 26 years spread over two stints (1996-2012, 2014-2024).
