RICHARDSON, Texas – The
No. 5 seed Hardin-Simmons defeated the
No. 4 seed LeTourneau in straight sets to open the 2022 ASC Volleyball Tournament on Thursday. Despite the sweep, the sets were close with HSU winning 26-24, 32-30, and 25-22.
The Cowgirls held a 54-30 advantage on kills, led by a trio of Aubree McCann (12), Liz Underwood (12), and Gabby Jones (11). Ali Meyer led all players with 25 assists against one error and 66 attempts. She added three aces, with a couple coming late in the third set to secure the win.
LeTourneau was led by Allison Smith and Kaylyn Taylor with seven kills apiece. The YellowJackets did amass 18 block assists and one solo block. Morgan Nix had 24 digs.
Hardin-Simmons improved to 14-9 on the year and picked up its 26th ASC Tournament win. This is the Cowgirls’ first tournament win since 2017 over UT Tyler. This is the furthest they have advanced in the tournament since winning the title in 2013. LeTourneau ended its season with a 15-12 record.

The
No. 3 seed East Texas Baptist defeated the
No. 6 seed McMurry in straight sets on Thursday night in the second match of the 2022 ASC Volleyball Tournament. The Tigers were in control from the first serve winning the sets 25-4, 25-13, 25-19.
The Tigers hit .482 for the game and were north of .500 most of the action. Avery Reid tallied a game-high 16 kills with one error and 22 total attempts for a . 682 hitting percentage. Graycee Mosley eclipsed double figures with 10 kills, and Kristin Kruger added nine. Lexi Moody totaled 36 assists and led the team with five service aces, as the Tigers served 11 total.
McMurry was led by Addyson Tiffin and Bri Garcia with seven and six kills, respectively. Ashlyn Quillan and Lexi Miller combined for 24 assists.
ETBU improves to 19-6 on the season and has won its last five matches. The Tigers won their first conference tournament game since 2017 and advanced to their first conference semifinal since 2016. This was the 24
th win for the Tigers in the ASC Tournament, placing giving them third most in the conference. McMurry ended its season at 12-12.
