CO-HITTER OF THE WEEK –
Corey Ballew, 3B, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons freshman third baseman
Corey Ballew (Graham, Texas) hit .500 (7-for-14) with two doubles, four RBI and run runs scored as the Cowboys swept Howard Payne at home. He had at least two hits in every game.
CO-HITTER OF THE WEEK –
Caimyn Holiday, SS, Jr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Mary Hardin-Baylor junior shortstop
Caimyn Holiday (Selma, Texas) hit .700 (7-for-10) in a three-game series at McMurry. He also recorded a pair of doubles, a home run, three RBI, three runs scored, two stolen bases and a 1.200 slugging percentage. Holiday was 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and a RBI in the 8-3 victory to open the series. He followed with a 4-for-4 performance in game two and was 1-for-1 with three walks in the finale.
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK –
Sayers Collins, RHP, Jr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist junior right-hander
Sayers Collins (Frisco, Texas) improved to 3-0 on the season with a 10-strikeout, four-hit shutout in a 9-0 win at Ozarks. He allowed only one walk and retired the side in the first, fifth and seventh innings. This is Collins’ third Pitcher of the Week award of the season and fourth of his career.
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK –
Aman Patel, LHP, Fr., LeTourneau
LeTourneau freshman left-hander
Aman Patel (Missouri City, Texas) worked eight-plus innings to earn the win in a 7-4 road victory at Belhaven. He fanned 13 batters, allowing just two hits, no walks and one run. He retired 19 straight during his performance.
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES AT THE PLATE
UT Dallas junior left fielder
A.J. Liu (Plano, Texas) was 5-for-13 (.385) from the plate as the No. 18/25 Comets swept a three-game non-conference home series against No. 22 Texas Lutheran over the weekend. Liu hit two doubles and added a home run while scoring four runs and collecting six RBI in the sweep of the Bulldogs. He boasted a slugging percentage of .769 along with a .429 on-base percentage as the Comets improved to 6-0, their best-ever start to the season in program history.
East Texas Baptist senior first baseman
Christopher Robinson (Shreveport, La.) led the Tigers in a three-game sweep at Ozarks, hitting .417 (5-for-12) with two home runs, six RBI and five runs scored. He blasted both homers in game one – a 14-9 victory. Robinson followed with multiple-hit performances in the final two contests.
LeTourneau sophomore third baseman
Ethan Wood (Joshua, Texas) hit .412 (7-for-17) with seven RBI and six runs scored in a 2-2 week for the YellowJackets. He reached base in all four games, including three multiple hit contests where he also scored and drove in at least one run. Wood fanned just three times in 19 plate appearances.
Belhaven senior center fielder
Caleb Whittle (Fulton, Miss.) was 4-for-10 with a RBI, two walks, three runs scored and a stolen base as the Blazers took 2-of-3 from LeTourneau.
Ozarks junior center fielder
Rennie Arjona (Panama City, Panama) opened the season hitting .471 (8-of-17) with seven runs scored, a triple and a RBI in four games for the Eagles.
Concordia Texas sophomore designated hitter/third baseman
Kaden Kleinert (Spring, Texas) hit .375 (3-for-8) with a double, triple and two RBI as the Tornados took 2-of-3 from Sul Ross State.
McMurry senior catcher
Reed Hodges (Round Rock, Texas) hit .455 (5-for-11) with three doubles, two RBI and a pair of runs scored as the War Hawks went 2-1 against Mary Hardin-Baylor. He was 3-for-4 with all three doubles and two RBI in an 8-7 win in game two of the series.
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES ON THE MOUND
Mary Hardin-Baylor freshman hurler
Nicklas Fenner (Canton, Texas) recorded nine strikeouts in six innings, allowing four hits and two walks in a 3-1 loss at McMurry.
UT Dallas sophomore right-hander
Orion Drymond (Houston, Texas) went 1-0 with a save as the No. 18/25 Comets swept No. 22 Texas Lutheran in a three-game non-conference series over the weekend. Drymond collected his third save of the season in the series opener Saturday afternoon as the Comets kicked off the set with a 6-3 victory. He was then called upon in the 10th inning in Sunday's season finale, eventually earning the victory as his squad completed the sweep with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the frame.
Belhaven senior righty
Harris Coleman (Madison, Miss.) threw a complete game, 7-1 win over LeTourneau. He allowed just two walks, three hits and an unearned run.
Concordia Texas graduate student right-hander
Colton Hunter (Round Rock, Texas) fanned 10 batters and allowed one run, one walk and three hits in a seven-inning, 3-1 win over Sul Ross State to open the series.
McMurry sophomore righty
Jonathan Enriquez (Galveston, Texas) earned the win in a 3-1 series finale over Mary Hardin-Baylor. He allowed an unearned run with five strikeouts, six walks and four hits over six frames.
Hardin-Simmons sophomore right-hander
Grant Mizelfelt (Round Rock, Texas) threw a complete game, allowing one run, four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts over seven innings in a 9-1 win over Howard Payne.
