Duo Tied For 3rd In Respective Tournaments with Great Final Rounds

MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Bryson Thurston, Sr., LeTourneau
LeTourneau senior Bryson Thurston (Montgomery, Texas) led the conference men’s golfers at the Rhodes Fall Invitational where he tied for third with a 212 (-4 Par). He shot 72, 71, 69 over the three rounds and tied the third lowest single round score in the tournament. Thurston was improved in the final 18 holes to move up two places in the individual leaderboard. LeTourneau finished second as a team out of 19.
 
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Sofia Trevino, So., UT Dallas
UT Dallas sophomore Sofia Trevino (The Woodlands, Texas) tied for third with a 148 (+4), only two shots behind the medalist, at the DIII National Preview. She recorded the best round of her career on Monday, shooting an even 72 with five birdies. Trevino's round was the eighth best in program history and her total score was tied for fourth. Her performance helped the #20 Comets take second place in the tournament that featured nine of the 18 teams in the top 25.

MEN’S GOLF
Hardin-Simmons junior Anthony Browning (Abilene, Texas) was the leader for the Cowboys, as he shot 223 to tie for 29th. Browning posted 75, 77, 71 results each round and was a catalyst in helping the Cowboys improve three spots in the team rankings for 12th.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore Trey Archer (Cleburne, Texas) led the #23 Cru to a 13th place finish and was the team leader with a 226 (+10 Par). He shot 73, 77, 76 to finish tied for 38th.  
 
WOMEN’S GOLF
UC Santa Cruz junior Mikaela Paracuelles (Folsom, Calif.) improved on her first round score enough to go from 31st to 19th individually among 94 golfers at the DIII National Preview. Buoyed by three birdies on the back nine, Paracuelles shot 76 on day two after a 79 to finish with a 155. The #25 Banana Slugs came in 11th as a team in a deep field of 18.
 
UP NEXT
It is a big tournament for the American Southwest Conference on Monday, Sept. 26 through Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the UMHB Fall Invitational. Seven teams will compete including the host at Sammons Golf Course in Temple, Texas.
 
On the women’s side, UC Santa Cruz will be at Williams Invitational in Williamstown, Mass. at Taconic Golf Course Friday, Sept. 23 through Saturday, Sept. 24.
 
Concordia Texas and Mary Hardin-Baylor will also be in action at the MCC Women’s Intercollegiate at Montgomery Country Club in Montgomery, Ala. on Sunday, Sept. 25 through Monday, Sept. 26.
East Texas Baptist debuts on Monday, Sept. 26 through Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Jacksonville Tomato Bowl Classic in Jacksonville, Miss. at the Cherokee Ranch Golf Club.
