Miller, White, Campbell, and Schiel earn Track and Field Athletes of the Week

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Rangel Miller, Gr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist graduate student Rangel Miller (Shreveport, La.) earned two first place finishes at the D3 Challenge in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400 meter relay. He ran a 48.94 and finishing almost a second faster than the second-place finisher (49.59). He then helped the 4x400 meter relay team finish almost six seconds faster than second place host Texas Lutheran and 11 seconds faster than third place Concordia Texas.
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Jacob White, Sr., LeTourneau
LeTourneau senior Jacob White (League City, Texas) set a program record and won the triple jump event with a distance of 13.73 meters (45 feet, 0.5 inches) at the D3 Challenge. The mark put him 10th in the nation and fourth regionally. White also competed in the 200 meter-dash and 400-meter dash and had top-10 finishes. This is his second ASC Athlete of the Week honor this season and first of the outdoor season.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Najwa Campbell, Jr., McMurry
McMurry junior Najwa Campbell (Conroe, Texas) competed in three events for the War Hawks at the D3 Challenge over the weekend. Campbell won the 100-meter hurdles with a win-aided time of 14.81. It broke the meet and facility records and is a personal record. In the 400-meter hurdles, Campbell took second at the meet with a time of 1:08.09, which is also second in the ASC, eighth in the West Region, and 34th in the nation. Finally, Campbell was part of the 4x400 meter relay that took third with a 4:13.97. This is the second Athlete of the Week honor for Campbell this season.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Neelie Schiel, Fr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist freshman Neelie Schiel (Chappell Hill, Texas) had the second-best throw at the D3 Challenge with a 36.71 meters (120 feet, 5 inches) result. She earns her second Athlete of the Week honor consecutive weeks.  
 
 
OTHER TOP MEN’S PERFORMANCES
 
McMurry sophomore DonTre Sinegal (Benbrook, Texas) claimed second out of 15 racers in the 110 meter high hurdles at the D3 Challenge with a 14.22 result. That mark was a personal record and ranks first in the ASC performance list. It also beat the meet and facility record. The time also ranks second regionally and nationally. The exact time was fourth best in NCAA Division III a season ago.
 
McMurry sophomore Reagan Owen (Sonora, Texas) nailed big marks at the D3 Challenge in discus and hammer throw. His discus throw of 43.18 meters (141 feet, eight inches) won the event and was a personal record. It also ranks ninth in the West Region and 33rd nationally. Owens threw 52.07 meters (170 feet, 10 inches) in the hammer throw, and was 9 cm off personal record. The result was second at the meet and ranks second in the ASC and region, while being 10th nationally.  
 
East Texas Baptist senior Donyvan Givens (Beeville, Texas) participated in three jumping events finishing in the top five for all of them. He was the top ASC jumper in the long jump (6.78m) (22 feet, 3 inches) finishing just six inches behind Trinity in third. In the triple jump he was fourth with the second-best ASC leap (13.20m) (43 feet, 3.75 inches). In the high jump, he has the top ASC height (1.82m) (5 feet, 11.5 inches) in fifth place behind Southwestern, Trinity, and TLU.
 
Concordia Texas senior Jacob Ismir (Fort Worth, Texas) reset his own school record in the 3000 steeplechase (10:07.86) once again for the second time this season. Ismir's time was the best among the five other ASC competitors in the race.
 
Hardin-Simmons sophomore Justin Bingham (Houston, Texas) raced in the 100 meter-dash to a time of 10.89 at the Texas Tech Masked Rider.
 
Hardin-Simmons senior Layton Ranson (Midlothian, Texas) posted a mark of 6.60 meters (21’8”) in the long jump at the TTU Masked Rider meet that placed him 11th in a field with several non-NCAA Division III competitors.
 
 
OTHER TOP WOMEN’S PERFORMANCES
East Texas Baptist sophomore Payton Clark (New Iberia, La.) had the top ASC times in her events at the D3 challenge at TLU. She was third in the 200-meter dash at 26.27 and just 0.13 off the best time behind Trinity and Grinnell. She was then sixth in the 400-meter dash with a 1:01.67 just three seconds off the top finish. The 4x400 meter relay was then second behind TLU by two seconds and topped ASC teams McMurry and LETU.
 
LeTourneau sophomore Ellie Marsh (Richland, Wash.) set a program record in the 400-meter hurdles and placed first in the event with her time of 1:05.76, a full second better than her previous program-record time. The time ranks her 13th nationally and fourth in the West region. She also finished 11th in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.25, while she was part of the 4x400 team that came in fifth at 4:23.60.
 
UT Dallas sophomore Sage Herrera (Fort Worth, Texas) shaved more than 10 seconds off her time in the 1,500 meters, placing fourth out of 26 at the OBU Invite in Oklahoma Saturday. She broke her own school record in 4:59.14 and ranks fourth in the ASC in the event.
 
Concordia Texas sophomore Jayla Aldridge (Giddings, Texas) shined in her debut collegiate meet at the D3 Invitational. She blazed a third-place time of 12.74 in the 100m, which is currently the best clocked time in the ASC this season. She then won section four in the 200m with a time of 26.69 to place sixth overall.
 
Hardin-Simmons junior Nikki Tolbert (San Antonio, Texas) raced in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash at the Texas Tech Masked Rider. She posted a 26.77 time in the 200m and 1:00 in the 400m in deep fields that featured non-NCAA Division III competitors.
 
UPCOMING COMPETITION
Concordia Texas and McMurry will compete on Mar. 30-31 at the University of Texas Clyde Littlefield Relays, while UT Dallas, LeTourneau and Hardin-Simmons are at the Bobcat Invitational (hosted by Texas State) on Mar. 31-April 1.
