RICHARDSON, Texas – Concordia Texas makes its second trip to the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament after winning the automatic qualifying berth from the 2023 American Southwest Conference Championship. The Tornados open the national tournament on Friday (May 4) at 4 p.m. versus Trinity at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif.
Concordia Texas (17-4) won its last four matches that included a 3-0 run through the conference tournament two weekends ago. The Tornados edged Hardin-Simmons, 5-4, to claim its second ASC title in the past three seasons. The Tigers claimed the regular season match, 7-2, on February 12. The winner will advance to the winner of host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and UC Santa Cruz.
The teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the first, second and third rounds played at regional sites. The United States Tennis Association, Oglethorpe, and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will host the team championships finals, which will be held May 14-22 at USTA National Campus in Orlando.
On Wednesday (May 3), Joshua Bode was announced as one of 32 singles qualifiers to compete in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship Tournament. Bode recorded a 20-1 record and was the American Southwest Conference West Division Most Valuable Player.
