Tornados exit NCAA Men's Tennis Championship in 2nd Round

CLAREMONT, Calif. - After a historic season that featured a program single-season best 17 wins, the Concordia Texas men's tennis team bowed out of the second round of the NCAA Championships. The Tornados fell to No. 8 Trinity University, 5-1, at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center on Friday.

Grad senior Joshua Bode received good news as he was invited to the NCAA Championships for singles play in Orlando in two weeks. Bode has been excellent on the court, posting a 20-1 record on line one this season.

In doubles action, the Tigers gained a 2-0 advantage after Daniel Beckles / Andres Padilla (8-5) and Joeri Bregman / Esteban Arredondo were bested in decisions. CTX earned their lone win of the day when Bode and Adrian Munguia outlasted their opponents 8-7 to make it 2-1 heading into singles.

With all six matches running concurrently, Trinity was able to post a pair of 6-1, 6-1 triumphs before clinching the fifth victory on line five.
