AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Deonte Jackson, G, Sr., LeTourneau
LeTourneau senior guard Deonte Jackson (Nacogdoches, Texas) led LeTourneau to a 3-1 record over the last few weeks by averaging 25.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 4.0 steals per game. Jackson eclipsed 2,000 career points during the stretch. He had 34 points with three steals in a win over George Fox and then had 23 points with five rebounds and three steals in a win over Pacific Lutheran. In a loss to No. 9-ranked Illinois Wesleyan, Jackson poured in 27 points with five steals. He then had 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists in a win over Concordia-Moorhead.
 

OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES

Mary Hardin-Baylor senior guard Eli Beard (Big Sandy, Texas) averaged over 20 points per game, totaling 85 in four games. He scored 26 points against Albion with four double-digit performances. Beard also added 16 rebounds and two steals with a field goal percentage of .476 in the last two weeks of play.
 
East Texas Baptist junior forward Michael Roberts (Denton, Texas) averaged a double-double in four games with 11.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. He shot 48.6 percent from the floor and had two double-doubles with 13 points and 10 rebounds versus Rhodes. Roberts totaled 18 points with 16 rebounds against Millsaps with five assists, shooting .538 from the floor. The 16 rebounds agianst Millsaps was a career-high. He hit the game-tying three-pointer with just seconds left vs. Millsaps to send the game to OT, where ETBU won.
 
Hardin-Simmons sophomore forward Chris Bryant (Canyon, Texas) led the Cowboy offense, scoring in doubles-digits in four of the six Cowboy games over the break with 19-, 12-, 25-, and 17-point games. He recorded a double-double, with 10 rebounds and 12 points against Redlands. Bryant totaled 10 blocks and nine assists in the six-game span as he continues to lead HSU in scoring. 
 
UT Dallas senior guard Nick Donnelly (Flower Mound, Texas) averaged 20 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as the Comets went 3-1 over the holiday break. He was lights out from three-point range, shooting 56.4 percent (22-of-39). Donnelly scored at least 16 points in all four games, including tying a career-high of 23 points with eight rebounds in a 94-70 win at Hendrix on December 21. He made seven three-pointers against the Warriors. Donnelly finished the stretch with 22 points at McMurry Saturday.
