AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Andrae Gibson, Sr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist senior Andrae Gibson (McKinney, Texas) had three top five finishes going fourth in 200 meter dash, fifth in the 400 meter dash, and winning the 4x100m relay. In the 200 meter, he was .22 seconds from first place and then in the 400 meter it was just .35 from first place finishing in front of D2 runners from Ouachita Baptist and Harding. He helped the 4x100 meter relay team win the event out of 10 teams in front of a community college and NAIA programs.
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – PJ Johnson, Fr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist freshman PJ Johnson (Tyler, Texas) cleared 1.77 and 1.82 on his first jump and 1.87 on the 2nd jump to win the high jump out of 15 athletes.


WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Phoebe Dunham, Jr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist junior Phoebe Dunham (Prairieville, Louisiana) had a top five finish in the 3000 meter steeple chase in third place coming in ahead of Ouachita Baptist and College of the Ozarks participants. She was then sixth in the 3,000 meter run in front of several NCAA Division II runners.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Emily Sitton, Fr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist freshman Emily Sitton (Jewett, Texas) tied for third in high jump at 4'11" but received fourth with the marks and was four inches off of first place out of 14 athletes.
