HITTER OF THE WEEK – Luke Land, OF/DH, So., Luke Land
LeTourneau sophomore outfielder/designated hitter
Luke Land (Longview, Texas) batted .583 (7-for-12) with a home run, 9 RBIs, a 1.000 slugging percentage, and an OPS of 1.722 on the week for the YellowJackets. He had at least one hit and one RBI in all four games. Land went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and four RBIs in a 15-9 win over Occidental. He was 1-for-1 with an RBI and three walks in a 5-4 loss to Sewanee before going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double in a loss to Concordia Wisconsin. Against No. 1-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater, Land was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Matthew Irwin, P, Jr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist junior pitcher
Matthew Irwin (Katy, Texas) continued his pitching dominance from last week with another great win going six innings of a seven inning game for his fourth win of the year. He recorded five strikeouts with three hits and one earned run to a team that was averaging almost eight runs a game coming into the series. Lyon was also averaging 9.5 hits per game and he held them to just three hits. Irwin also retired the side in the second, fifth and sixth innings. In the past two weeks, he has now pitched 17.1 innings, giving up three earned runs and 14 strikeouts.

HITTERS
Mary Hardin-Baylor junior infielder
Shane Melick (Oro Valley, Arizona) went 11-for-25 from the plate, adding 12 RBI and seven runs scored. He totaled four doubles, with one home run. Melick recorded at least one hit and one run scored in every game, putting up three games with multiple hits, one game with multiple runs and three games with multiple RBI.
Howard Payne graduate student outfielder
William Burford (Sugar Land, Texas) went 7 for 9 at the plate with 2 RBI, a double, and a triple. Burford's 4 for 4 performance in game one of the DH was the second time he posted a 4 for 4 outing this season.
East Texas Baptist graduate student outfielder
Luke Bumpus (Wylie, Texas) had six hits in the three-game series versus Lyon College as four were doubles for 5 RBI. In game 1, he went 3-of-5 with 3 RBI and 2 doubles. He followed with a double and RBI in game two on Saturday. In Sunday's game, he was 2-of-4 with a double an a RBI. He also had a sac fly in game 2. In 13 at-bats, he was walked once and never struck out.
UT Dallas junior catcher/designated hitter
Noah Angus (Haslet, Texas) hit .500 (4-for-8), including a walk-off home run, as the Comets won both of their games during the week. He was 2-for-3 and walked twice and led off the bottom of the ninth with a solo homer to give UT Dallas a 7-6 victory over Arlington Baptist Tuesday. Angus followed by going 2-for-5 with two runs, scored, a double and three RBI in Wednesday's 15-6 win against Occidental.
PITCHERS
Mary Hardin-Baylor freshman pitcher
Kolby McBee (Hewitt, Texas) threw a win against Texas Lutheran with six innings pitched. He gave up just five hits with zero runs allowed. McBee walked just three batters, adding three strikeouts. He did not allow an extra-base hit in 26 batters faced.
Howard Payne senior pitcher
Canon De Serf (Richmond, Texas) struck out seven in a 6.0 no-decision start versus Blackburn. De Serf allowed two runs on four hits with the Yellow Jackets going on to win the game 14-13 in a walkoff.
LeTourneau senior left-handed pitcher
Aman Patel (Missouri City, Texas) produced a quality start for LeTourneau in an eventual loss to Sewanee. The left-hander went six innings allowing just one run on seven hits with two strikeouts.
UT Dallas junior right-handed pitcher
Anthony France (McKinney, Texas) picked up a win in relief on Wednesday as the Comets defeated Occidental 15-6. He threw three scoreless innings, allowing two hits, a walk and a hit batter while fanning one.
