AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Nicholas Holland, Fr., UT Dallas
UT Dallas freshman Nicholas Holland (Rockwall, Texas) finished third in the 800 meters at the CenTex Invite Saturday in his outdoor collegiate debut. His time of 1:57.01 was just 1.02 seconds behind the winner.
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – PJ Johnson, Fr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist freshman PJ Johnson (Tyler, Texas) defeated two LeTourneau and two other unattached athletes for first place in the high jump by 0.1 meter. He came in front of LETU's Jean Michael-Ndiaye who had a 1.85 height.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Rowen Hughes, Fr., UT Dallas
UT Dallas freshman Rowen Hughes (Waxahachie, Texas) shattered both of the Comets' hurdles record at the CenTex Invite Saturday. She placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.14, topping the old mark by 3.62 seconds. Hughes also placed third in the 100 hurdles in 15.81 seconds, besting the previous record by .46 seconds.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Shakayla Browder, Sr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist senior Shakayla Browder (Campti, Louisiana) finished top five in the shot put as the best D3 thrower there with a 9.83-meter throw. Two NAIA and two D2 throwers were ahead of her. She was then 13th in the discus out of 27 throwers.

OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
 
UT Dallas sophomore Zachary Carroll (Wichita Falls, Texas) recorded a pair of sixth-place finishes at the CenTex Invite on Saturday. He broke the three-year old javelin school record by 14 ft.-7 in., posting a mark of 44.96 meters (147 ft.-6 in.). Carroll also recorded a long jump of 6.32 meters (20 ft.-8.75 in.).
 
East Texas Baptist senior Andrae Gibson (McKinney, Texas) helped the 4x400m relay to the second-best time at the meet as the unattached won the event. They missed defeating Southern Arkansas by just under a half a second. They were 0.07 from winning the 4x100 meter relay behind Mississippi College.
 
East Texas Baptist senior Ache’ Anderson (Houma, Louisiana) helped ETBU to a 2nd place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:18.17. She had the fifth best time of NCAA athletes in the 800 meter dash and third best D3 athlete.
