Jackson Headlines 2025 ASC Men's Basketball Awards

DALLAS, Texas – LeTourneau senior guard Deonte Jackson was named Player of the Year in a vote by American Southwest Conference men’s basketball head coaches to headline the 2025 ASC Men’s Basketball Awards and All-Conference teams announced Thursday (March 6).
 
Jackson claimed his first Player of the Year accolade after leading the league in scoring with 23.8 points per game and 620 total points while shooting 49 percent from the field. He also ranks fifth nationally in points per game and eighth in total points. Jackson ranked second in the conference in assists (98) and steals (63). He had a season-high 40 points and nine three-pointers against Mary Hardin-Baylor (Feb. 13) while totaling 17 games with 20+ points in the 2024-25 campaign. Jackson earned D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors this season and was on the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List.

Hardin-Simmons guard Matthew Alexander earned Freshman of the Year. Alexander total 165 points for the Cowboys while shooting 53.6 percent from the field. He added 69 rebounds, 27 steals, 20 assists and 10 blocks.
 
Howard Payne guard Trey Jackson was named Newcomer of the Year. He finished the season top 10 in the league in points per game (13.9) and total points (375). Jackson ranked fourth in steals with 49 and ninth in rebounds with 126 boards. He scored a season-high 26 points against McMurry (Nov. 19) and had four 20+ point games.  
 
Howard Payne junior guard Armonie Ramey was named Defensive Player of the Year. He leads the league and ranks second in the nation in steals with 100 total and 3.7 per game. Ramey is also third in the conference in scoring, averaging 21 points per game with 568 total points. He also ranks second in rebounds with 8.2 per game and third in assists with 82 total. Ramey recorded a season-high 40 points against Hardin-Simmons (Feb. 13) and has recorded 11 double-doubles this season.   

Hardin-Simmons graduate student guard Will Bartoszek was Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year and is on the All-ASC First Team. He totaled 242 points and 110 rebounds for the Cowboys. Bartoszek added 37 assists and 18 steals this season.
 
Hardin-Simmons Head Coach Matt Brackett was named ASC Coach of the Year after guiding the Cowboys to an 18-9 record and 8-0 conference record, being the fourth team in ASC Men’s Basketball history to go undefeated in conference action. He led Hardin-Simmons to a Regular Season Champion title and ASC Championship title.
 
Eight student-athletes that were named to an All-Conference team were repeat selections. Deonte Jackson (LETU) received his fourth all-time honors while Will Bartoszek (HSU) and Austin Brewer (HSU) earned their third all-conference award.
