MARSHALL, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University baseball team closes their season in the NCAA DIII Baseball Championship Tournament Regional Championship on Sunday in Marshall.

East Texas Baptist forced an “if game” after defeating No. 6 Trinity (TX) 4-0 in the first contest. ETBU used a home run from Ben Lea to take the 1-0 lead in the second inning. Nathan Harmon then extended the lead to 3-0 with a two-run homer in the fifth inning. The Tigers added a final insurance run in the top of the ninth with a Nicolas Chavez home run.
Brayden Hodge earned the win for ETBU, throwing 3.2 innings allowing just one hit with two strikeouts. Braden Karnes earned the save, pitching the final 2.1 innings with just one hit and no walks. Ben Lea and Dylan Burnaman led the Tigers through game one with three hits each.
In the final contest of the Regional, Trinity claimed a 7-4 win over ETBU to move on to the Super Regional. Trinity opened the game with a homer in the second inning. East Texas Baptist responded with a two-run home run in the fourth before Luke Bumpus made it 3-1 in the sixth with another homer.
Trinity used a pair of home runs in the eighth innings to take a 4-3 lead, but ETBU quickly tied it 4-4 with a Hunter Rumachik RBI single to score Bumpus. The score held through the ninth, forcing extra innings. Trinity claimed three more runs in the tenth to secure their victory.
Luke Bumpus led ETBU through the second contest, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Hunter Rumachik added two hits and an RBI while Ben Lea recorded a hit and two RBI.
East Texas Baptist closed the 2025 campaign with a 31-16 overall record and held a 11-5 conference mark. The Tigers earned the second program ASC Championship title on their home field in Marshall this season.
