OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Abbey Dugan, MF, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons freshman midfielder
Abbey Dugan (Carlsbad, N.M.) scored two goals off the bench for the Cowgirls in the big 6-0 win over East Texas Baptist on Saturday night at the HSU Soccer Complex. She had four total shots and three shots on goal in 38 minutes in coming on to help Hardin-Simmons start American Southwest Conference play 1-0.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Aubrey Tipton, GK, Fr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Mary Hardin-Baylor freshman goalkeeper
Aubrey Tipton (Flower Mound, Texas) went 1-0-1 on the week in the net for the Cru. She made five saves in the Cru's one-goal shutout over Howard Payne. Tipton followed that with 11 saves against Trinity on Saturday night, helping the Cru tie the Tigers 1-1. She faced 17 shots in that contest and gave up just one goal, which was requested a video review.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
Offensive
East Texas Baptist sophomore
Grace Shurley (Shreveport, La.) tied her career-high of two goals in a game at Centenary College in a 4-0 win last week. She had three shots on goal with two going in, playing in an average of 35 minutes a match, coming off the bench.
Mary Hardin-Baylor freshman forward
Gracie Ruthven (Austin, Texas) was a key factor in the Cru's 1-0-1 week. She led the Cru with seven shots against Howard Payne, putting three on frame and creating several opportunities for other Crusaders to shoot and/or score. Ruthven followed that with three shots against Trinity, putting two on frame and scoring the go-ahead goal for the Cru in the 70th minute. She ended the week with 10 shots, putting five on goal.
Defensive
Hardin-Simmons junior defender
Cora Saucedo (Flower Mound, Texas) was a key defender last week in the Cowgirl win over East Texas Baptist. Saucedo went for 65 minutes in the 6-0 win and led the backline of the defense to only allow seven total shots from the Tigers on the night. Saucedo and the defense combined for the third-straight shutout for Hardin-Simmons.
