HITTER OF THE WEEK – Tyler Martin, Sr., OF, Mary Hardin-Baylor
Tyler Martin went 5-for-11 on the week for Mary Hardin-Baylor, scoring six runs and driving in five. He hit a home run in each of the three games and did not strike out in any of his at-bats. Martin also drew a walk in game two against Texas Lutheran, a 13-12 one-run loss for the Cru. In an 11-1 win over Texas Lutheran, he batted .667 and scored three runs.
UMHB will face St. Thomas (TX) on Tuesday, March 24, in Belton.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Alex Hill, So., P, Mary Hardin-Baylor
Alex Hill pitched 7.0 innings in an 11-1 Mary Hardin-Baylor win over Texas Lutheran. During his outing, he faced 28 batters and struck out 11, including two looking. Hill limited opposing hitters to a .192 batting average, allowing just five hits while helping the Cru secure the decisive victory.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
HITTERS
Connor Massimini hit .400 across four games last week for the East Texas Baptist Tigers, helping the team to a 3-1 record. He totaled four runs scored, six hits, and three RBI on the week.
PITCHERS
Freshman Kannon Baird of Hardin-Simmons pitched 5.1 innings in the first start of his career, allowing no runs while scattering four hits and striking out three to earn his second win of the year.
Conner Smeltzer of East Texas Baptist made one relief appearance this week, earning the save in a 6-5 win over College of Wooster. Entering in the eighth inning with a one-run lead, he struck out four of six batters faced and then struck out the side in the ninth to secure the victory for ETBU.
