HITTER OF THE WEEK – Makayla Menchue, Jr., INF, East Texas Baptist
Makayla Menchue had a standout week for the Tigers, leading them to a 3-1 series win over Hardin-Simmons while batting .500. Menchue recorded four hits, scored four runs, and drove in six RBI, including three home runs. In game one, she hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to give East Texas Baptist a 3-1 lead, helping secure the win. She carried that momentum into game two with another two-run homer to put the Tigers ahead 3-1 in a 4-1 victory. Menchue also posted an impressive .692 on-base percentage for the week.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Gabby Montanez, So., P, Hardin-Simmons
Gabby Montanez delivered a complete-game shutout against East Texas Baptist, earning a 1-0 victory for the Cowgirls. She pitched 7.0 innings, allowing six hits and five walks while recording two strikeouts. Montanez faced 31 batters and held the Tigers to a .231 batting average, keeping a strong East Texas Baptist lineup off the scoreboard in the win.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
HITTERS
Kinzley Cantu of Hardin-Simmons recorded at least one hit in all four games for the Cowgirls last week, highlighted by driving in the game’s only run in a 1-0 victory over East Texas Baptist. She batted .583 on the week and scored three runs for HSU.
PITCHERS
Avery Holland of East Texas Baptist earned two wins for the Tigers this week, including a complete-game performance in a 3-1 victory and 2.1 innings of relief in an 11-3 win. Holland recorded six strikeouts and held opposing batters to a .342 average.
