Class of 2026 Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor Recipients

New Braunfels, Texas – Eight graduating student-athletes have been selected and awarded as class of 2025-26 American Southwest Conference Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor recipients, announced by the confrence office Thursday.
 
The Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor is the highest honor one can achieve as an American Southwest Conference student-athlete. Presented by the Faculty Athletics Representatives, the Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor is awarded to one male and one female member of each member institution's graduating class who has compiled the most outstanding record in academics, athletics, and leadership over their collegiate career.

EAST TEXAS BAPTIST
Tyler Bogusz | Finance/Accounting | Baseball | Frisco, TX
A volunteer in the community who has earned several academic awards is East Texas Baptist University’s Tyler Bogusz. He has helped ETBU to two American Southwest Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships, along with two NCAA Division III Regional Tournaments.

In the past two years, he has worked closely with several organizations on campus. As a member of the ETBU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), he has served as a team rep and treasurer and has led the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on campus. His kind heart has led him to help with the ETBU Baseball Kids Camp and to be part of the ETBU Presidential Intern Program Community Project, which partners with a local Elementary school on a project to help the Marshall area.

The 2026 ASC Medal of Honor recipient for ETBU, Bogusz, is a two-time ASC All-Academic Team member and on the President’s List for the past two years. He is a member of the Sigma Beta Delta & Alpha Chi, and Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Societies, as well as the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He made the ETBU All-Academic Team for the highest grade point average on the baseball team over the past two years, is the ETBU Fred Hale School of Business Outstanding Scholar, and received the Hale School of Business Academic Excellence Award. At the ETBU End of the Year awards, he was awarded the Hogue Presidential Servant Leadership Award.

His two-year pitching career for ETBU brought him ASC awards, being named to the All-ASC Second Team last year, and a member of the 2026 ASC All-Tournament team. He has gone 9-3 over the past two years as a starting pitcher, with 64 strikeouts in 103 innings pitched and a 3.67 ERA, as ETBU has won two ASC Tournament and Regular Season Championships while hosting two NCAA Division III Regional Tournaments. ETBU has won 64 games in two seasons and been ranked as high as No. 10 in the nation.

Graycee Mosley | Biology | Volleyball | Troy, TX
Graycee Mosley had a stellar volleyball career at East Texas Baptist University. She was named the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for 2025 as the nation’s top student-athlete for NCAA Division III volleyball. She became the first American Southwest Conference volleyball student-athlete to win this award and the second ETBU student-athlete to do so.

A biochemistry major who graduated from ETBU in December 2025, Mosley earned the Elite Scholar-Athlete Award for NCAA Division III Volleyball at the National Championship Tournament Banquet and was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. She finished with a 4.0 GPA, helping ETBU reach its first-ever NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament as the No. 1 seed and advanced to the Elite 8. She made the President’s List all four years, was in the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, graduated Summa Cum Laude, and was the Outstanding Graduating Senior for the ETBU Chemistry Department.

Using her big heart in community service, Mosley volunteered locally at several organizations. For Marshall ISD, she helped with the Fall Festival and Morning High Fives, served as a volunteer PE teacher, and read at the Elementary schools. At Longview's New Beginnings Church, she volunteered at the Back-to-School Bash and the For the City Project. Her time in Marshall has also been spent at Mission Marshall, Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine, a Mission Trip to Chile, ETBU Serve Day, several Special Needs Nights for volleyball, volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club, and serving as a Pen Pal for Compassion International.

This year, Mosley became ETBU’s all-time career kill leader with 2,032 kills, was named an AVCA First Team All-American, the NCAA Medford Regional Tournament Most Outstanding Player, the ASC Tournament MVP, and the ASC Player of the Year. She finished fourth in the NCAA in total kills (532), 10th in kills per set (4.59), and 16th in total attacks (1,236). Earning eight ASC Player of the Week Awards, she was on the AVCA All-Region First Team and was the AVCA National Player of the Week while being named to the All-ASC First Team.

ETBU went 34-1, winning its third-straight American Southwest Conference Tournament Championship and reaching the No. 1 national ranking. ETBU broke several program records, including the longest win streak at 34 matches, and won the program’s and ASC’s first-ever NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.

Mosley leaves ETBU as a four-time AVCA All-American and an All-Region First Team selection, earning First Team All-American honors in 2024 and 2025. She is a three-time CSC Academic All-American, being named to the First Team the past two years. The only four-time ASC Player of the Year, she won two ASC Tournament MVPs and holds the record for most career Player of the Week awards for any ASC sport at 20. She is the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete winner for both volleyball and track and field and will be a four-time ASC All-Academic team member. The four-year starter led ETBU to three American Southwest Tournament Championships, three NCAA Tournament appearances, and one NCAA Regional Championship.

HARDIN-SIMMONS
Harrison Foster
| Finance | Football | Sweetwater, TX
Harrison Foster is a finance major from Sweetwater, Texas and finished with a 3.88 GPA. He secured 161 total tackles for the Cowboys at safety, including 81 solo and 80 assisted tackles. Foster intercepted two passes which were each returned for touchdowns, forced two fumbles, had nine passes deflected, and blocked one kick to go with four tackles for loss in 2025.

Foster was named a Campbell Trophy semifinalist, an Associated Press second-team All-American, D3football.com first-team all-region, first-team all-ASC, a Cowboy football team captain, and CSC academic all-district for the 2025 season.

Abbi Allen | Business | Volleyball | Coleman, TX
Abbi Allen is a Coleman, Texas native and hit for .250 for the Cowgirl volleyball team and recorded 212 kills in the 2025 season. She averaged 2.12 kills a set and was one of the best blocking right-sides in the nation with a total of 109 blocks, averaging 1.09 blocks a set on the season for Hardin-Simmons.

Allen finished with a 4.0 GPA in business and was named an AVCA All-American, becoming just the ninth All-American in Cowgirl volleyball history. She was AVCA first-team all-region, first-team all-ASC, and CSC academic all-district as well in her final year at Hardin-Simmons.


HOWARD PAYNE
Deaven Connally
| Education/Mathematics | Soccer | Joshua, TX
Deaven is a 4-year Soccer letterman. An Education/Mathematics major, he will graduate on May 16th with a 4.00 GPA.
He has started 64 of his 67 collegiate games, leading to being selected 4 times to the All-Conference team. He has also received the Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year award and Conference Academic All-Conference selections. Academically, he has received the Education Deans of Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas Preservice Education of the Year Award. He has been on the HPU President's list every semester. He was also awarded the Outstanding Underclassmen in Mathematics. His plans include teaching/coaching and someday becoming an education administrator.

Briana Carter | Nursing | Soccer | Round Rock, TX
Briana has started 20 of her 35 collegiate games. Her one goal scored was a winner against ETBU. She has been selected as Academic All-Conference her last 3 years of participation. As a student, she has a 4.00 GPA in Nursing. She has been named to the President's List for her academic performance. She recently received the Certificate of Academic Excellence in Nursing.

MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR
Zach Engels | Finance | Men's Basketball | Austin, TX
Zach Engels holds a 3.5 grade-point average as a finance major at UMHB. He was a First Team All-ASC selection and All-Tournament Team honoree in his senior year with the Cru. Engels is also a multi-year winner of NABC Honors Court and Academic All-ASC. He played four years of basketball at UMHB, totaling more than 850 points scored and 400 rebounds.
 
Lori Bryan | Business | Women's Tennis | Allen, TX
Lori holds a 3.99 grade-point average as a business major at UMHB. She is a four-time All-ASC selection with a pair of College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections. Lori played four years on the women's tennis team, collecting conference awards each season. She was also named to the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete team and has collected more than 35 singles wins and 25 doubles wins.
