Hardin-Simmons to Play in NABC Tournament Series in San Antonio

Kansas City, Missouri — The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the field for its inaugural Division III Tournament Series on Wednesday, with American Southwest Conference member Hardin-Simmons selected as one of the participating programs.

The Cowboys will compete at the San Antonio site, hosted by Trinity University on January 1-2, 2027. The eight-team field features some of the nation's top programs, with four participating teams finishing inside the top 35 of the NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings during the 2025-26 season. Programs set to compete in San Antonio include: Clarkson, Hardin-Simmons, Johns Hopkins, Trinity (TX), Wheaton (IL), Williams, WPI, and WashU.

The NABC Division III Tournament Series will be held at two locations. The first event, presented by D3hoops.com, will take place in Las Vegas on December 21-22, 2026, while the San Antonio event will follow in the new year. 

Led by 2025-26 ASC men's basketball Coach of the Year, Matt Brackett, the Cowboys earned a share of the regular season championship, and hosted the conference tournament in Abilene.
