ASC Receives 24 NSCAA All-West Region Honors

RICHARDSON, Texas - The American Southwest Conference recorded 24 combined selections from seven member institutions' men's and women's soccer teams on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region teams announced by the online publication (Dec. 1).

The 24 selections mark the sixth consecutive season the ASC has received at least 20 or more All-Region honorees.
Hardin-Simmons women's head coach Marcus Wood was named the West Region coach of the year for the sixth time in his career.

On the men's side the ASC received 11 award winners from five teams led ASC Champion UT Dallas with five. Mary Hardin-Baylor and UT Tyler recorded two each while Concordia Texas and Hardin-Simmons had one each. In the last six seasons, the Comets lead all ASC men's teams with 20 NSCAA All-Region members.

Of the 11 men's NSCAA selections, four received ASC all-conference awards led by UT Tyler junior Leandro Cid Fernandez as the Offensive Player and Midfielder of the Year. Three UT Dallas award winners received NSCAA recognition led by Sam Konstanty, Defensive Player of the Year, Joseph Weber, Goalkeeper of the Year and Alfredo Kaegi, Offensive Freshman of the Year.

Five teams were represented in the women's awards led by ASC Champion Hardin-Simmons with five. Mary Hardin-Baylor and UT Tyler each had three selections while LeTourneau and Sul Ross State recorded one each. Over the last four seasons the Cowgirls lead all ASC women's teams with 29 NSCAA All-Region members.

Out of the 13 women's NSCAA selections, four received ASC all-conference honors, all from Hardin-Simmons led by Kami Jones as the Offensive Player of the Year, Kirsten Parrish, Defensive Player of the Year, Kenne Kessler, Midfielder of the Year and Caitlin Christiansen, Goalkeeper of the Year.

Each of the HSU award winners will be back for the Cowgirls, who went 20-1-2 on the year and were eliminated in the third round of the NCAA Tournament on penalty kicks.
