ABILENE, Texas – McMurry secured its third consecutive league title, the latest being the 2023 American Southwest Conference Women’s Cross Country Championship, on Saturday. The War Hawks have now won four conference titles (2006, 2021, 2022, 2023) and have finished in the top 3 in 23 total ASC Women’s Cross Country Championships. This is the 28th ASC Women’s Cross Country Championship and was held at ACU Cross Country Course in Abilene, Texas, after weather in DFW made the original course unable to be used.

Hardin-Simmons junior Kylah Holland defended her individual medalist title, becoming the sixth student-athlete to achieve the feat and first since Lindsey Rayborn did it in 2016 and 2017 for UT Dallas. Holland also shattered the 6k ASC Championship Record with a time of 22:06.8, which surpassed Sydney Tenacate from HSU in 2019 (22:29.9). Holland is the third individual medalist all-time for the Cowgirls and this is the fourth season that a member of that team has won.

McMurry placed a quartet inside the top-14 individual standings. Mary Hardin-Baylor came in second place with 62 points, which is the third straight year to finish in that slot since winning in 2020-21. East Texas Baptist came in third place with 74 points and cap the same top trio in team standings from a year ago.

Ozarks junior Chloe Weathers earned ASC Newcomer of the Year and was second individually with a time of 23:12.1. Taking third was UT Dallas junior Rebeca Betanzo with a time of 23:20.2. The top seven finishes were named ASC First Team All-Conference. Beyond the top trio are Mary Hardin-Baylor junior Presley Wall (23:29.5), Mary Hardin-Baylor graduate student Holly Dasher (23:46.5), UT Dallas junior Sage Herrera (24:06.6), and McMurry sophomore Chloe McLellan (24:06.6).

Seven individuals earned all-conference honors multiple years, headlined by Mary Hardin-Baylor graduate student Holly Dasher earning the honor a fifth time.
