WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Karen Lee, Gr., UT Dallas
UT Dallas graduate student
Karen Lee (Southlake, Texas) won the Lady Bulldog Classic at Starcke Park this week. Lee carded a 69-72=141 to lead the field. Lee’s 36-hole total broke her own school record set last year by two shots. Lee’s performance led No. 15 UTD to a first-place finish as a team with a 296-290=586 (+18). The Comets shattered school records for lowest round by four strokes on day two and 36-hole score by 11 strokes. UTD also edged No. 19 Trinity and Southwestern in the nine-team field.
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Kaiden Schneider, So., LeTourneau
LeTourneau sophomore
Kaiden Schneider (Bullard, Texas) claimed his third career tournament title as he finished -7 par with a 209 (67, 69, 73) at hosted Tempest Intercollegiate. Schneider registered two eagles, 10 birdies, and led the field in both par-4 and par-5 scoring average. His effort highlighted a first-place finish by No. 19 LeTourneau, who finished at -13 with an 851 (280, 282, 289) and were 21 strokes ahead of second-place. The YellowJackets set records for lowest 54-hole net score and score to par.

WOMEN’S GOLF
UC Santa Cruz senior
Alyssa Yee (Davis, Calif.) led the team at the California Intercollegiate Meet with a +3 Par as she scored 72-75=147 and tied for 13th. The Banana Slugs opened their 20th anniversary season with an eighth-place finish with a score of 632. The Banana Slugs are receiving votes in the WGCA and this field included three teams ranked inside the top 10 with No. 4 Redlands, No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer, and No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
LeTourneau sophomore
Hannah Newell (Houston, Texas) came in second at hosted Tempest Intercollegiate as she carded a 74-82=156 (+10) over the pair of rounds.
East Texas Baptist junior
Kirsten Bridges (Blossom, Texas) led the team with a seventh place finish at the Tempest Intercollegiate with a 85-83=168 (+24) result.
MEN’S GOLF
East Texas Baptist senior
Jack Sladek (Fort Worth, Texas) carded a 74-71-72=217 to finish +1 par and ranked sixth in the field to lead the Tigers at Tempest Intercollegiate.
Hardin-Simmons senior
Anthony Browning (Abilene, Texas) paced his team by shotting +12 and tying for 22nd at Tempest Intercollegiate. He scored a 77-75-76=228.
McMurry freshman
Kendrick Hoster (Brock, Texas) also shot +12 to tie for 22nd and posted a 73-78-77=228 at Tempest Intercollegiate.
Mary Hardin-Baylor junior
Trey Archer (Cleburne, Texas) led the Cru at the California State Intercollegiate at Livas Links Golf Course in Ventura. Archer finished in a three-way tie for 16th place with an overall 74-71-72=217 (+1).
UP NEXT
The ASC Fall Preview will be played on Saturday, Sept. 16 – Sunday, Sept. 17, with all nine teams participating. The tournament will be at Oakwing Golf Club in Alexandria, Louisiana. This is the same course the teams will compete on in the 2024 ASC Championship next spring.
The next men’s golf tournaments will be September 22 with Concordia Texas at Midwest Region Classic, Hardin-Simmons and LeTourneau at Rhodes Invitational (Sept. 24), and Howard Payne, McMurry, UT Dallas, East Texas Baptist, and Mary Hardin-Baylor at the UMHB Invitational on Sept. 25.
